Ambry Thomas Bio
Ambry Thomas is an American football cornerback born September 9, 1999, in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Martin Luther King High School and played college football at Michigan, where he developed as a defensive back and contributed on special teams. Michigan recognized him as a 2019 third-team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and an honorable mention by the media.
The San Francisco 49ers selected Thomas in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the 102nd overall pick. NFL scouting analysis characterized him as a competitive, physical press-man cornerback with patience, awareness, ball skills and a willingness to tackle. His professional career with San Francisco included a defining 2021 regular-season finale, when he intercepted Matthew Stafford in overtime to help send the 49ers to the playoffs.
Thomas later spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings organizations before joining Philadelphia. The Eagles signed him to a reserve/future contract on January 20, 2026, but released him during their initial-53-man-roster moves on August 30, 2026. Those dated transactions do not establish a current team affiliation as of September 30, 2026.
