BIOGRAPHY

Derick Roberson’s journey in American football is marked with dogged determination, tireless work ethic, and striking resilience. Born on the 15th of November 1995, Roberson has evolved into a seasoned linebacker in the football realm. At present, he offers his valuable contribution to the DC Defenders, a prominent team under the banner of the United Football League (UFL).

Roberson’s football prowess was evident in his earliest years, but it truly began to shine at the University of Texas. Here, he played for two seasons, from which he amassed valuable experience that would serve him well throughout his career. His time at Texas marked the start of his professional journey, acting as the springboard that propelled him into the larger cosmos of football.

The real test of his mettle came when he decided to transfer and suited up for Sam Houston State. Playing college football for this esteemed institution deepened his understanding of the game and helped sharpen his inherent skills. This change signaled a critical juncture in his career trajectory, pushing him to prove his worth as a promising football stalwart.

Much to his gratification, his dedication and grinding hard work finally paid off on May 9, 2019. That was the day when Roberson’s professional dream materialized, and he was enlisted as an undrafted free agent for the Tennessee Titans. Despite being waived on August 31 the same year, his ability to bounce back was apparent when he returned as a member of the practice squad only a day later.

However, this was merely the start of a roller-coaster that would test Roberson’s tenacity. His induction into the active roster on October 19, 2019, was short-lived as he found himself waived off just three days later. But he was not one to stay down. Displaying unparalleled perseverance, he re-joined the practice squad, and by November 26 of the same year, he had returned to the Titans’ active roster.

The athletic linebacker’s first big breakthrough arrived during a Week 16 match against the New Orleans Saints. Committed to proving himself, he innovatively maneuvered through the ground and recorded his first two career sacks against none other than the renowned quarterback Drew Brees.

Roberson’s talent was further showcased as he faced off against the Houston Texans in the regular season finale. On that decisive day, he recorded a laudable three tackles and a sack, playing an instrumental role in the team’s 35-14 road victory.

However, the journey was not always smooth. Roberson was placed on injured reserve on September 28, 2021, due to sports-related injuries. Regaining his strength and vitality, he was reinstated on November 16 that year.

Roberson’s career took a detour in 2022, temporarily shifting his professional allegiance. On September 8, 2022, he was incorporated into the practice squad of the Houston Texans. Once again, his tenure was brief, as he was released from the squad on November 7 the same year.

Derick Roberson’s journey took a critical turn in 2023 when the Houston Roughnecks drafted him in the XFL Supplemental Draft’s second round at the start of 2023. However, this phase too proved to be transient as he was released on December 15 the same year.

Never one to falter, a mere five days later Roberson was back in the field. This time, he joined forces with the DC Defenders of the United Football League (UFL). This marked a new chapter in his career, bringing with it a renewed sense of pride and competitiveness.

Roberson’s football narrative, interspersed with bouts of triumph and adversity, personifies his caliber as a linebacker. A more comprehensive chronicle of his life will underscore the inspirational journey of this American footballer born in the mid-1990s, offering valuable insights into the many pathways to success on the football field. It’s this kind of lived experience that adds richness and resonance to the world of sports – a world that Derick Roberson continues to influence and shape with his remarkable contribution.
