Carl Lawson is a professional football player who currently plays as a defensive end for the National Football League’s (NFL) New York Jets. Born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia, Carl Lawson Jr. was born on June 29, 1995. During this stage of his career, he was recognized as an All-American player, while ESPN and Rivals rated him as a four-star recruit. His potential and talent quickly caught the attention of college recruiters across the United States.

After graduating from high school in 2013, Lawson committed to Auburn University, becoming a vital part of the Auburn Tigers’ defensive line. However, a series of injuries would test his resolve. After showing promising performance in his first season, Lawson suffered a severe anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, forcing him to sit out for the entire 2014 season. He would face another setback in 2015 with a hip injury.

Despite these challenges, Lawson’s talent and resilience became evident. He successfully returned to the playing field, showing stronger and more refined performance. His final season at Auburn in 2016 was astounding, recording 9.5 sacks and 14 tackles for a loss, which earned him a first-team All-SEC selection.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, Lawson was selected in the 4th round by the Cincinnati Bengals. His professional career kicked off strong as he was named in the NFL All-Rookie Team, finishing the season with 8.5 sacks, the highest for a rookie in the 2017 season, and the second-highest in the Bengals’ history.

Lawson continued to excel with the Cincinnati Bengals for four seasons, during which he established himself as a substantial part of the team’s defence. However, like his college career, his professional journey was also marred by injuries. A torn ACL in 2018 and a hamstring injury in 2019 limited his appearances on the field. Despite these setbacks, his productivity, work ethic, and natural talent always enabled him to return at full force.

In 2021, Lawson decided to leave the Bengals, signing with the New York Jets as a free agent. His move to the Jets came after an impressive season where he led the Bengals in quarterback hits and pressures.
