Blake Hance's Biography

Blake Andrew Hance was born on January 11, 1996 in the United States and began his journey to become an American professional football player at a young age. Today, he is known as a football guard for the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that plays in the National Football League (NFL). His story is one of determination and resilience, now cemented in the NFL annals.

Hance’s collegiate years were spent as a player for Northwestern’s football team. After spending four years honing his skills and displaying his talent on the field, he concluded his career at Northwestern and entered the professional realm. His first opportunity to crack the professional league came in May 2019, when he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills. However, his stint with the Bills was short-lived. Just a few weeks later on May 22, the Bills released him.

Unfazed by this setback, Hance continued his professional journey and in June 2019, he was signed by the Washington Football Team. He spent the remainder of his training camp with this team before being waived on the last day of August the same year.

In September 2019, Hance joined the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad. He stayed with the squad all through the year, patiently awaiting his big break. His perseverance paid off in January 2020, when he was signed to a reserve/futures contract. Regrettably, he was waived in September the same year.

The year 2020 proved to have more twists and turns in store for Hance. In September, he joined the New York Jets’ practice squad. On January 2, 2021, the Cleveland Browns signed him. Due to injuries and COVID-19 related issues affecting the team, Hance had an opportunity to step onto the field during the Browns’ playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. During his NFL debut in the fourth quarter, he played 14 snaps, helping his side through the course of the match. Even despite not having practiced much together, Hance received commendation from the Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield for his performance and dedication.

However, in March 2022, the Browns placed an exclusive-rights free agent tender on Hance before waiving him in August the same year. Less than 24 hours later, on the last day of August, Hance was picked off waivers by the San Francisco 49ers. This was not the end of his odyssey, he was yet again waived in October of the same year. Just days later, on November 1, 2022, Hance was claimed off waivers by the Jaguars, marking his return to the team where he had spent a significant amount of his time.

In an unforeseen twist, Hance was released by the Jaguars in August 2024 and then re-signed to their practice squad, a testament to the unpredictable yet thrilling nature of his career.
