Bernhard Seikovits's Biography

Bernhard “Seiko” Seikovits, born on the 24th of July, 1997, is an accomplished Austrian-American Football professional. He is recognized for his role as a tight end for the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL). Seikovits started out by making remarkable strides in Vienna, his hometown, before bursting onto the international scene in the NFL.

Growing up in Vienna, Seikovits fell in love with American Football at a tender age of 10. His passion for the game saw him join the junior teams of the Vienna Vikings, a well-known outfit in the Austrian Football League. His relentless dedication and impressive skills rapidly propelled him through the ranks, leading him to ultimately join the Vikings’ senior team in the Austrian Football League.

Seikovits proved to be an invaluable asset to the Vikings. His performance on the pitch was nothing short of exemplary, culminating in his emergence as one of the top receivers in the league. Beyond his club commitments, Seikovits also graced the international stage as the captain of the Austria national American football team. Arguably, his most impressive feat was leading the Under-19 Austrian team to victory in two European Championships as a quarterback, a testament to his remarkable leadership and athletic prowess.

In 2021, Seikovits made significant strides in his career by joining the prestigious NFL in the United States. Thanks to the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program, Seikovits was assigned to the Arizona Cardinals. He joined the team’s intense training camp where he was able to hone his skills further. Once deemed ready, Seikovits became an addition to the Cardinals’ practice squad, owing to an exemption that allows the team to carry an extra player.

Despite the challenges, Seikovits made considerable progress. He began to truly settle into the Cardinals during the 2022 pre-season, making 4 catches for 26 yards. This success, however, was marred with inconsistency, leading to several occasions where he was waived only to be re-signed to the practice squad the following day.

These setbacks didn’t deter Seikovits. He dedicated himself to the sport more seriously, aiming to improve his skills and find a stable place on the team. His consistency and growth saw him awarded a reserve/future contract with the Cardinals, first on the 19th of January 2022 and then again on 11th of January 2023.

Despite these professional contracts, Seikovits found himself released by the Cardinals and re-assigned to the practice squad on a number of occasions between August 2023 and August 2024. Yet, each time, he managed to reestablish his position via his reserve/future contracts, the last instance being on the 8th of January 2024.

Seikovits has managed to make a name for himself both in his home country of Austria and internationally in the NFL. He made fruitful strides and progress in the sport, and his passion for the game remains unwavering despite the challenges he has faced. With his track record, it comes as no surprise that Seikovits continues to be a valuable asset to any team he graces with his talent and dedication.
