Xavier Tillman Sr.'s Biography
Xavier Tillman Sr. is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for Michigan State University, and was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft with pick 35.
Tillman grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He attended Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School where he was named Gatorade Player of the Year and Third Team All-State as a senior. Following high school, he committed to play his college basketball at Michigan State University under head coach Tom Izzo. As a freshman at MSU, Tillman had averages of 4 points and 3 rebounds per game while playing just 11 minutes per contest off of Coach Izzo’s bench. However, these numbers would improve drastically over his next three seasons as he developed into one of college basketball’s best players throughout 2019-20 season when he averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds while leading MSU to back-to-back Big Ten regular season championships – earning both AP All American Second Team honors as well being named Big Ten Player Of The Year during his junior campaign before deciding to enter into his name into 2020 NBA Draft pool .
The Memphis Grizzlies ended up selecting him with pick number 35 despite Tillman falling outisde most draft rankings due to their belief that “his skill set perfectly fits what [Grizzlies] want[ed] in terms of modern big man who can defend multiple positions” And since entering the league Xavier has found success on both ends averaging 8 points 7 boards 1 steal & 1 block on 62% shooting from field through first two years in league while also becoming part integral part to teams daily plans on defensive end which saw him start 45 games this past year replacing star center Jonas Valanciunas . In 2021 however it looked like things were about take another step forward for 6’8″ power forward/center after signing 2 year $3 million contract with Golden state warriors but unfortunately suffered season ending injury before joining roster
Despite setback Xavier looks poised for success given chance , shoring up those rebounding deficiencies & developing preimise aspects offensive game such as comfortable range outside paint or even more crafty post up moves should help make him key cog moving forward .
