Robert Williams III, also known as Timelord, is an American professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He attended college at Texas A&M University, where he played one season before declaring for the 2018 NBA draft.

Williams was born on October 17th 1996 in Charlotte, North Carolina to parents Robert and Chrystal Williams. Growing up in a large family of 9 children made it difficult for him to stand out among his siblings. However, by the time he reached high school he had developed into a promising basketball prospect and led West Charlotte High School to their first state title since 1993. After graduating from high school in 2015 with honors, Williams committed to play collegiate basketball at Texas A&M University over offers from Florida State and Kansas among others.

At Texas A&M University, Williams had an impressive freshman season averaging 11 points per game along with 8 rebounds per game en route to being named Big 12 All-Defensive Team Honorable Mention award winner as well as receiving Third Team All-Southeastern Conference honors following his lone year there. After a successful freshman campaign, The Timelord declared for the 2018 NBA Draft on April 6th 2018 where he was selected 27th overall by Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge who said “Robert has unusual physical tools that fit exactly what we were looking for” when asked about why they selected him so early in the draft process despite many thinking that would wait until later rounds due to some knee injuries during his senior year of high school which caused some teams not wanting risk drafting him so early.

Upon joining The Celtics roster following summer league competition and preseason games ,Williams has become one of coach Brad Stevens most dependable bench players off late providing energy both offensively and defensively whenever called upon throughout this past season including playing key minutes during important stretches towards end regular seasons helping lead them towards playoff contention . His collegial nickname “Timelord” has stuck around within organization thanks mainly due to his ability either sneak away from defenders or instinctively know when double team is coming leading him often times finish shots otherwise thought impossible . Despite all these attributes no accomplishment stands out more than when then rookie center scored career high 9 points while leading all rebounder taking 10 boards against New York Knicks back January 2019 helping Boston win that night 122-117 which kickstarted remarkable second half run eventually culminating Eastern Conference semifinals berth versus Milwaukee Bucks after finishing fourth place regular season standings .

Going forward critics will watch closely if Robert can take another step forward proving himself even more reliable player rotation next couple years especially given depth issues surrounding big man spots within roster already making strides towards becoming reliable contributor consistently each night still youth side remains main concern moving forward however through hard work determination potential certainly exists heading into future years potentially turning himself into full time starter depending how situation works out come down road .
