Quinten Post's Biography

Quinten Post, a distinguished power forward and center player in professional basketball, was born on the 21st of March, 2000, in Amsterdam. He is currently showcasing his talents with the Golden State Warriors in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Besides, he also demonstrates exceptional skill in the NBA G League, playing under a two-way contract with the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Known for his towering height of 7 feet (approximately 2.13 meters), Post marked the beginning of his illustrious journey in basketball when he was a schoolboy. Amsterdam’s Apollo Junior Team welcomed him into their ranks when he was only 11.

However, his journey wasn’t immediate or straightforward. It was observed that his growth spurt came rather late; thereby, he typically played on the junior-second or third teams in his age category. In the ensuing period, Post also took a year and a half hiatus when he was on the under-16 team.

Despite the unexpected break in his early years, Post made an impressive comeback. On returning to the under-18 team, he had grown to a formidable height of 2.04 meters (approximately 6 feet 8½ inches). He started by playing in the second team, but his enormous talent propelled him to the first team in just one year.

Paving his way through the challenges, Post seized the opportunity to lead his team to a grand victory. As the starting center, he led his first team to win the National Under-18 Championship in 2018. During this time, he efficiently balanced his basketball career and the pursuit of knowledge, receiving his education at the Cartesius Lyceum.

It was at Apollo Amsterdam that Post crossed paths with the formidable Timberwolves’ player, Jesse Edwards. Their play in tandem led to some memorable matches and meaningful interactions.

Coming to the pivotal point in his career, Post had an array of alluring offers. He received invitations to play for FC Barcelona Bàsquet B in Spain and KK Mega Basket in Serbia. Yet, he chose the path less treaded – the route to the United States, deciding to play college basketball.

He started with a commitment to Mississippi State for a short duration, before transferring to Boston College. Although his playing time in his junior year during the 2021–22 season was quite limited, it didn’t dampen his spirit. He continued playing with an unwavering dedication, which led him to be named Second Team All-ACC and secure a place in the ACC All-Defensive Team in his final season.

On 27th June 2024, another milestone was achieved as Post was chosen as the 52nd overall pick by the Golden State Warriors in the 2024 NBA Draft. This was a remarkable moment given that he was the first Dutchie to be selected in 15 years since Henk Norel’s selection in 2009.

In a surprising turn of events, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a four-team deal for Lindy Waters III; however, he was traded back to the Warriors for cash considerations soon after. The draft night, as Post later revealed to ESPN Netherlands, was a whirlwind of emotions with him being moved between teams. Despite the chaos, his joy was palpable, and he ended up choosing the number 21 for his Warriors jersey.

On 26th September 2024, Post signed a two-way contract with the Warriors, further fortifying his association with the team. Later, Post was honored with the inclusion in the preliminary roster of the Netherlands senior team for EuroBasket 2022. This decision indicated his growing importance in the sphere of professional basketball, both at the national and international levels. Through the ups and downs of his career, Quinten Post remains a testament to the power of passion and determination in the world of sports.
