Paul Reed is a professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 14, 1998 and grew up playing basketball on the local courts. He attended Imhotep Institute Charter High School where he established himself as one of the best high school players in Philadelphia’s Public League. In his senior year he earned first-team All-City honors and helped Imhotep to its first city title since 1974.

Reed then went on to play college basketball at DePaul University, where he averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds per game during his sophomore season. His junior year saw him average 12 points and 9 rebounds while shooting an impressive 52 percent from 3-point range. During this season, Reed also improved defensively as well; helping lock down opposing teams’ top offensive threats with multiple blocks throughout Big East play. After declaring for the NBA draft following his junior year at DePaul, Reed was selected by Atlanta with the 34th overall pick in 2020.

Reed made his NBA debut against Toronto Raptors in November 2020; recording 7 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists off the bench in a win over Toronto’s top ranked defense that night. Since then he has gone on to become an important contributor for Atlanta off their bench providing energy, hustle plays and rim protection all season long. He finished second among rookies for total blocks behind only James Wiseman (Golden State) despite only playing 48 games due to health protocols related to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions enforced across various leagues throughout 2020–21 NBA season

On April 10 2021 Paul scored a career high 19 points while adding 8 rebounds 2 assists 1 steal & 3 blocks against New Orleans Pelicans leading Hawks comeback victory just before playoffs began later that month; showing coaches & fans alike that he can be relied upon when needed most – no matter what circumstance arises or pressure situation presented itself during close games or late moments throughout any game night out there inside State Farm Arena walls .
