Orlando Robinson

Orlando Lamon Robinson Jr., born on the 10th of July, 2000, holds an eminent position in the basketball fraternity of America. Opting basketball for his profession, he currently plays for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before making his way into the professional basketball league, he served as a significant player for the Fresno State Bulldogs in his college basketball days, labeling him as an exceptionally talented player.

Originating his high school basketball venture, Robinson joined Centennial High School situated in Las Vegas. Recognizing his passion and dedication towards the game, he adorned himself with essential basketball skills which led him to transfer to Cathedral High School in Los Angeles before the commencement of his junior season. Upon his transition, he effortlessly scored 29 points in his first game at the Cathedral, hinting at his promising talent.

In order to channelize his final high school year more productively, Robinson attended Middlebrooks Academy. Confirming his dedication towards basketball, he accepted the offer extended by Fresno State on October 11, 2018, leaving behind the proposals from Oregon State, Georgia Tech, and Boise State.

Robinson’s freshman year at college witnessed him with an average of 12.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Keeping his perseverance intact, he engaged in intensive ball handling and strength training sessions during the offseason, pan-demic times. Further, he marked his career-high by scoring 33 points and 13 rebounds in a winning game against Wyoming on January 4, 2021.

Embarking on the sophomore journey saw Robinson performing exemplary by maintaining an average of 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game along with 11 double-doubles. These promising figures rewarded him with Second Team All-Mountain West and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. Following the sophomore season, Robinson retained his college eligibility by declaring for the 2021 NBA draft. However, he removed his name from the draft on July 2, 2021, and returned to Fresno state for his junior season.

Acquiring First Team All-Mountain West honors in his junior season reflected his progression. Unfortunately, he went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft. However, not letting any hurdles dominate his progress, Robinson signed a deal with the Miami Heat on July 14, 2022.

On October 24, 2022, with the aim to enrich his professional skills, Robinson joined Miami Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, for training. Progressing on his professional journey, he signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat on November 13. With his journey taking various turns, Robinson was waived by the Miami Heat on November 25, leading him to re-join Sioux Falls Skyforce. Clinging onto his hope, on December 11, he signed a second two-way contract. During this phase, Miami Heat made headlines by reaching the 2023 NBA Finals, although losing to the Denver Nuggets in the fifth game.

Robinson, being a player under a two-way contract, wasn’t eligible to participate in the playoffs. However, on July 1, 2023, the Miami Heat welcomed Robinson with a standard contract, relieving him from his co-assignment to the Skyforce. This enabled Robinson to elevate his game, rooted in the hopes of accomplishing more in his budding professional career. His journey signifies resilience, dedication, and the desire to grow and strive for excellence in the basketball arena.
