Jahmi’us Ramsey, born on June 9, 2001, is a shining star in the basketball world. His career in basketball began in his school days, demonstrating his skills as an American professional basketball player. Now, Ramsey can be watched soaring on the court for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA.

Embarking on his basketball trajectory, Ramsey began his high school basketball career in his hometown of Arlington, Texas. As a freshman and sophomore, he proved his athletic prowess at Mansfield Summit High School. However, the court-calling of his junior season saw him transferring to the prestigious athletic haven of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. This move not only allowed him to play a national schedule but also accelerated the college interest in this rising star.

Ramsey made another notable move for his senior year, enrolling at Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas. Despite some initial plans to join Oak Hill Academy, an acclaimed more giant in sports education, Duncanville became his launchpad for further success. Here, he impressed everyone with an average of 21 points and six rebounds per game, leading his team to the much-coveted Class 6A state championship.

April 20, 2019, marked a significant milestone in Ramsey’s athletic journey as he showed off his skills at the Jordan Brand Classic. He scored 15 points, made six rebounds, and added two steals to his credit, further cementing his rising reputation. This was shortly followed by another recognition- a shared most valuable player (MVP) honor with Isaiah Mobley at the Ballislife All-American Game on May 4.

Ramsey was considered a hot property by several scouters. Rivals considered him a five-star recruit while he attracted ESPN and 247Sports as a four-star recruit. On November 28, 2018, he made a pivotal decision committing to Texas Tech, choosing them over Memphis and many other NCAA Division I programs. This decision shot him to the prominent position of the highest-ranked recruit in the school’s history and its first-ever five-star recruit.

Ramsey made a promising start at Texas Tech, recording 44 points and 12 rebounds in a preseason win against Mega Bemax, a Serbian professional team, in August 2019. His impressive performance continued with 19 points in his regular-season debut securing a win over Eastern Illinois. After an exceptional game versus LIU, where he scored 27 points, cleared five 3-pointers, and made six rebounds, he was crowned Big 12 newcomer of the week on November 25, 2019.

Despite a minor setback caused by a hamstring injury in a game against Iowa, Ramsey emerged stronger than ever. At the conclusion of the regular season, he was acknowledged as the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and also made it to the Second Team All-Conference. Ramsey ended his season with an impressive record of 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

Without resting on his laurels, Ramsey declared his entry into the 2020 NBA draft on April 25, 2020. His dedication and extraordinary skills earned him the 43rd pick in the 2020 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. He signed a multi-year contract with the Kings in December that year.

After a stint with the NBA G League and the Birmingham Squadron, Ramsey was traded to the Oklahoma City Blue. Although he had a brief signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder in October 2023, he later re-joined the Oklahoma City Blue. On March 5, 2024, he embarked on a new journey, signing a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors.

Jahmi’us Ramsey’s journey in basketball has been one of extraordinary growth and relentless pursuit of his passion.
