Malcolm Cazalon's Biography

Malcolm Jean Ahmed Cazalon was born on 27 August 2001 in Roanne, France, where his passion for basketball was ignited in his early life. He is a product of an illustrious family heritage, being the son of Laurent Cazalon, a reputed professional basketball player. Malcolm followed into his father’s footsteps and grew to become a professional basketball player as well. His journey started with Chorale Roanne, the local club he joined in his tender years, marking the start of his path in basketball.

By 2017, Malcolm made a pivotal move in his career by joining ASVEL. It was a calculated decision that challenged his budding skills as he competed in the LNB Espoirs under-21 league. Malcolm’s skills rose to prominence, attracting the attention of the basketball fraternity.

On 23 August 2018, Malcolm penned a three-year contract with JL Bourg, a club that competed in the LNB Pro A, recognized as the most prestigious professional league in France. His basketball prowess continued to grow, leading to another development on 19 July 2019, when he was loaned to Leuven Bears, a club competing in the Pro Basketball League (PBL) located in Belgium.

Malcolm continually sought for opportunities to develop his career, seizing the opportunity to sign with Mega Bemax in Serbia’s Basketball League on 10 March 2020. His performance with the team in the 2020-21 season marked another significant milestone when he declared for the 2021 NBA draft. However, Malcolm withdrew his application for both the 2021 and later for the 2022 NBA drafts, extending his time with Mega Basket for another year on 4 July 2022.

The NBA doors soon swung open for Malcolm after his stellar performance in Serbia. Going undrafted in the 2023 NBA draft, he found favor with the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA), signing a two-way contract with them on 2 July 2023. Soon after, he excitedly participated in the summer league. Unfortunately, his stint with the Pistons came to an abrupt end in February 2024, at which time he was waived from the team.

Opportunity knocked again in the form of an offer from Westchester Knicks of the NBA G League, presented on 24 February 2024. It marked another step towards achieving his NBA dream, where Malcolm renewed his dedication to the sport, aiming to make a name for himself in the new league.

Malcolm’s international career also reflects his exceptional talents. Unfortunately, due to injury, he missed playing in the 2017 FIBA U16 European Championship in Podgorica, Montenegro, where France clinched a gold medal victory. However, not one to be deterred by setbacks, Malcolm made exemplary contributions to the team during the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Argentina. He showcased his superior skills by averaging 16.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, which helped France secure the silver medal.
