Jordan Ford's Biography

Born on May 26, 1998, Jordan Matthew Ford is a professional basketball player hailing from the United States. He is currently signed with Dolomiti Energia Trento, an Italian team competing in Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). Prior to his professional career, Ford was a college basketball player for the Saint Mary’s Gaels.

From an early age, Ford’s tactical mind was honed via the game of chess. As a four-year-old, he learned how to play the complex game under the tutelage of his father, Cuzear. Even at such a young age, he excelled, winning two California state titles. Remarkably, he was ranked the seventh-best chess player in his age bracket nationwide. However, at the tender age of 8, he chose to focus solely on basketball and stopped playing chess competitively.

Ford pursued his basketball career at Folsom High School, where he came under Coach Mike Wall’s guidance. He proved his worth in March 2016 when he scored 34 points in a playoff game against Sacramento High School. His talent didn’t go unrecognized as he was awarded The Sacramento Bee’s player of the year twice. Ford later joined Saint Mary’s, attracted by their structured offense, despite receiving offers from Gonzaga, California, Oregon, and Oregon State.

As a rookie, Ford contemplated redshirting, but ended up coming off the bench as a backup to Joe Rahon. Rahon encouraged Ford to focus on his defense, which considerably contributed to his skill set. Unfortunately, Ford was diagnosed with epiglottitis in 2017, which led to extended hospitalization and weight loss. Despite these setbacks, he bounced back the following year, scoring 27 against BYU during the 2018 West Coast Conference (WCC) tournament. Ford had a memorable play in the same tournament when he took a pass from Emmett Naar and executed a double-spin move to perform a layup off the glass — a moment that made it to SportsCenter’s top-10 plays. Over his sophomore year, Ford averaged 11.1 points per game, maintained a 50.8 field goal percentage, and scored on 44.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

Ford had a career-best performance on November 13, 2018, scoring 35 points in an 11-of-17 shooting against Utah Valley — helping his team to a landslide 92–63 victory. He then continued to excel in his junior year, placing second in WCC scoring with an average of 21.1 points per game. His contribution played a significant role in the Gaels’ upset over Gonzaga in the 2019 WCC championship and their subsequent NCAA tournament appearance. For his contributions, Ford was named to the First Team All-WCC.

In his senior season opener, he scored 26 points, making 4-of-8 three-pointers and pushing Saint Mary’s to a dramatic 65–63 overtime victory over Wisconsin. He again landed a spot on the First Team All-WCC at the end of the regular season. In a career-topping performance on March 7, 2020, Ford scored a massive 42 points in a double-overtime win against Pepperdine during the WCC tournament quarterfinal.

Despite his accomplishments, Ford went undrafted in the 2020 NBA draft. He was later offered an Exhibit 10 contract by the Los Angeles Clippers, but was waived later that year. In February 2021, he was included in the roster for the Agua Caliente Clippers. Two months later, Ford secured a contract with the Greek club Peristeri for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season. He returned to the Clippers for a brief stint in September 2021, after which he re-signed with Agua Caliente Clippers.

In November 2022, Ford made the opening night roster for the Stockton Kings. Less than a year later, on September 12, 2023, he signed with the Sacramento Kings. His deal was swiftly converted to a two-way contract just three days later. Finally, on July 26, 2024, Ford took his talent overseas and signed with Dolomiti Energia Trento of the Lega Basket Serie A. He quickly made a mark on the team, receiving the Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for Round 3 after scoring a game-high 24 points and 4 rebounds.
