Domantas Sabonis

Domantas Sabonis is a professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in Portland, Oregon, to two professional athletes; his father Arvydas Sabonis played professionally in Europe and mother Ingrida Mikelionyte also had a successful career as an athlete. Domantas has four siblings: Anastasia, Tautvydas, Vaiva and Aidas. While growing up he trained alongside his father and brothers in Lithuania.

Domantas began playing basketball at an early age when he joined KK Zalgiris II at just 16 years old. He went on to play for KK Zalgiris during the 2013-14 season where he quickly earned recognition from scouts across Europe due to his impressive performances both offensively and defensively. After being named the MVP of the LKL All-Star game, it was clear that Sabonis had talent beyond what most players possessed. This led to him being selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2016 NBA Draft before ultimately being traded to Oklahoma City Thunder after only one season with them.

That same year he made his debut with OKC against Detroit Pistons where he performed very well averaging 4 points per game while shooting 58% from behind 3 point line setting a franchise record for highest 3pt percentage ever recorded by a rookie guard/forward combination player– soon after earning him admiration from all over United States as well as establishing himself amongst top rookies that year alongside Ben Simmons & Brandon Ingram . His talents were further acknowledged when won 2017 NBA Rising Stars Challenge becoming first rookie since Carmelo Anthony back in 2003 who managed win this event which also boosted his confidence ahead upcoming season 2017-18

In 2018-19 following trade between OKC & Indiana Pacers , Domantas moved East joining Pacers’ roster . He continued impressing everyone involved with both teams recording 12 double doubling games and averaging 15 points , 10 rebounds along with various other accomplishments such as becoming first Pacer since Detlef Schrempf 1991 finish 5 consecutive 20+ rebound games or most recently become third youngest player league history post 40+ points 20+ rebounds performance away Cleveland Cavaliers proving yet again how much potential really carries within himself – eventually earning ‘Most Improved Player’ nomination coming into 2020-21 campaign expected be prime time showcase skills further while continuing make strong impact team’s success so far this term
