Jamison Battle

Jamison P. Battle, born on May 10, 2001, is an esteemed American professional basketball player, currently contracted with the prestigious Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). On a two-way agreement, he also represents Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors. His formative years in basketball were spent playing at the college level, where he distinguished himself as a notable player in the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the George Washington Colonials, and the Ohio State Buckeyes squads within the Big Ten Conference.

Before his college years, Jamison polished his skills at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His teammate during this period was Tyrell Terry, a fellow athlete who also carved a notable career in basketball. Over the course of his senior year, Battle displayed exceptional talent, averaging 21.2 points and securing nine rebounds per game. His impressive performance proved instrumental in leading his team to the Class 3A state title.

Upon entering George Washington as a freshman, Battle continued to astound spectators and competitors alike. He averaged 11.8 points and 5.2 rebounds each game and as a result of his demonstration of consistent talent and skills, he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. Remarkably, Battle set a program single-season record for George Washington, striking 89 three-pointers. Aside from establishing a new record, he also took the lead in the conference.

On January 3, 2021, he received significant recognition when he logged a career-high of 29 points in addition to seven rebounds, which contributed to a triumphant 75-73 win against Duquesne. The following year, as a sophomore, he further proved his worth by averaging 17.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Owing to this exceptional performance, he was bestowed with Third Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.

Battle elected to transfer to Minnesota for his junior year, where he was given the opportunity to play under Ben Johnson, the first-year head coach. For his impressive performance, he was awarded Honorable Mention All-Big Ten.

His final game marked a significant feat in his career, when he overcame the 2,000 career point hurdle. Despite this personal victory, his team was defeated by Georgia in the 2024 National Invitation Tournament.

Despite not being picked in the 2024 NBA draft, Battle signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors on the 16th of July, 2024. A few months later, on the 19th of October, his deal was switched into a two-way contract.

Basketball talent is clearly a trait inherited within Battle’s family. His father, Terrell Battle, used to play college basketball for Winston-Salem State and currently holds the position of General Manager at Life Time Fitness. Jamison’s younger half-sister, Amaya, shares the same passion and talent for the sport. She was a part of the basketball team at Hopkins High School and is now representing Minnesota in her basketball endeavours.
