Dejounte Murray Bio
Dejounte Murray is an American NBA basketball player who currently plays for the San Antonio Spurs. He was drafted by the Spurs in 2016 and has been a key part of their success ever since.
Murray was born in Seattle, Washington on September 19th, 1996. He attended Rainier Beach High School where he played for their basketball team, earning multiple awards and honors during his time there. After graduating from high school, he decided to forego college and enter the 2016 NBA draft directly instead. In doing so, he became one of only four players that year to do so; the others being Skal Labissiere, Brandon Ingram and Thon Maker.
In June 2016, he was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the 29th overall pick in the draft; becoming just one of two players from Washington to be drafted that year (along with Marquese Chriss). After some impressive displays during pre-season games against other teams including France’s ASVEL Villeurbanne Basket club as well as USA Basketball’s Select Team which allowed him to make his debut for San Antonio against New Orleans Pelicans when they met in October 2017. In December 2017 Dejounte won ‘Western Conference Rookie of The Month’ award after leading all rookies with 6 double-doubles throughout November 2017 displaying impressive form early on his career at only 20 years old..
During his rookie season Murray averaged 4 points per game but this continued improvement saw him become an integral member of Gregg Popovich’s side over subsequent seasons putting out dominant performances alongside veteran teammates such as LaMarcus Aldridge & DeMar DeRozan en route to playoffs appearances each season including helping guide them into a 7th seed playoff berth elevating them past Memphis Grizzlies before eventually succumbing to eventual champions Los Angeles Lakers in first round 4-1 series loss .
