Brandon Boston Jr.

Brandon Elliot Boston Jr., known by fans and sports enthusiasts simply as B.J. Boston, was born on November 28, 2001. The talented American athlete’s professional basketball career took him to play for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). His love affair with the game and his rise to fame, however, go way back before he stepped foot on the NBA court.

Born and raised in Norcross, Georgia, Boston’s journey started in his early high school years. He exhibited tremendous potential and talent playing for Norcross High School. In 2019, he transferred to Sierra Canyon School in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Chatsworth. Here, he continued to improve his skills and strengthen his game, playing alongside notable basketball families’ heirs, LeBron James’s son Bronny James and Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire Wade.

During his stay at Norcross, Boston had an impressive performance on the court. His basketball prowess was evident as he averaged 18.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game during his final season at Norcross. His performance did not go unnoticed as he was selected to play in the 2020 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game. Boston’s achievements did not stop there; he was also chosen to feature in the 2020 Jordan Brand Classic, a testament to his burgeoning proficiency.

Boston’s undeniable talent had colleges vying for his commitment, but the five-star recruit eventually settled on the University of Kentucky. Making his college debut on November 25, 2020, Boston posted a commendable 15 points and seven rebounds in an 81–45 win over Morehead State. He ended his freshman year with an average of 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Highlighting his growing reputation, he scored an impressive 21 points in the season finale win against South Carolina.

Boston’s college career, filled with promise and potential, was cut short when he declared for the 2021 NBA draft on March 20, 2021, forgoing his remaining college eligibility. His decision paved the way for his professional career as he was selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft. Boston started as the 51st pick by the Memphis Grizzlies but was later traded to the Los Angeles Clippers via the New Orleans Pelicans.

Once becoming part of the Los Angeles Clippers, Boston was assigned to the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the Agua Caliente Clippers, for their G League season-opener. He didn’t disappoint, helping the Ontario Clippers win the G League Winter Showcase championship in 2022. His standout performance on the court gained him the MVP honor after scoring 21 points in the final.

Boston’s rise in the basketball ranks was accompanied by personal tragedy. His college teammate Terrence Clarke was involved in a car crash after a workout on April 22, 2021, in Los Angeles, California. Clarke, driving solo, was killed in the accident with a taustricken Boston in the car behind, witnessing the horrific event unfold.

Aside from basketball, Boston carries with him an interesting personal tradition. He keeps a dollar bill in his shoe during games, an intriguing quirk that adds another layer to an already compelling individual. Today, he continues to carve out his name in the professional basketball scene, promising more exciting games to come.
