Jeremiah Robinson-Earl

Jeremiah Christian Robinson-Earl, born on November 3, 2000, is a distinguished player in the National Basketball Association (NBA), currently showcasing his skills for the New Orleans Pelicans. He began his illustrious basketball career playing college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats, leaving a legendary mark in collegiate sports history before ultimately going professional.

Robinson-Earl attended Bishop Miege High School located in Roeland Park, Kansas, during his freshman, sophomore, and junior years, where he demonstrated exceptional basketball prowess. His freshman year kicked off in 2015-16, playing in 25 games and racking up an average score of 12.4 points per game which contributed to the team’s impressive 22-3 record.

Continuing his upward trajectory, he took part in another 22-3 record in his sophomore year of 2016-17, contributing a per-game average of 14.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals. His remarkable performance played a pivotal role in guiding his team to the coveted state championship. He was also named to the 2017 Wichita Eagle All-State selection and was honored with a scholarship offer from Kansas.

During his junior year, Robinson-Earl boasted a personal best average of 21.3 points, and parallel contributions in rebounds, assists, and hefts. His performance led the Bishop Miege High School basketball team to a consecutive third state title with another 22-3 track record. Following his time at Bishop Miege, he transferred to IMG Academy for his senior year.

Acclaim for Robinson-Earl’s talent came in the form of a five-star recruit consensus ranking and a distinction as one of the leading players in the 2019 class. On October 30, 2018, he announced his commitment to play college basketball for Villanova, after standing out among offers from renowned institutions including Arizona, Kansas, North Carolina, and Notre Dame.

Robinson-Earl’s Villanova journey began with a bang, scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds in his debut. A week later, on November 11, 2019, he was named Big East freshman of the week. Following an impressive regular season, he earned a unanimous selection to the Big East Freshman Team, and the coveted title of Big East Freshman of the Year. After contemplating an early exit for the 2020 NBA draft, he decided in favor of completing his sophomore season at Villanova, adding to his laurels.

As a sophomore in Vilanova, the focus was firmly on Robinson-Earl, who was named to the Preseason First Team All-Big East. His sterling game against Arizona State saw him score a career-high 28 points, establishing him as a force to be reckoned with. Overall, he averaged 15.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game in the season, garnering the prestigious title of Big East co-Player of the Year. On April 9, 2021, he declared for the 2021 NBA draft, relinquishing his college eligibility.

At the 2021 NBA draft, Robinson-Earl was selected in the second round as the 32nd pick by the New York Knicks. Shortly after, he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and later signed a contract with the team on August 10, 2021. On February 3, 2023, he was assigned to play in the NBA G League, showcasing his potential among other rising stars.

In a surprising move on October 17, 2023, Robinson-Earl was traded, accompanied by Victor Oladipo, to the Houston Rockets, in exchange for Kevin Porter Jr. and two future second-round draft picks. However, this stint was short-lived, and he was waived by the Rockets merely a week later. Robinson-Earl then signed a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans on November 3, 2023, ultimately settling with a standard contract with the team on February 17, 2024.

Robinson-Earl’s basketball career also featured a successful international stint with the United States under-18 team in the 2018 FIBA Under-18 Americas Championship held in Canada. He was instrumental in steering his team towards winning the gold medal. The following year, his consistent performance helped the US team in winning gold at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Greece, where he averaged 12.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
