Darius Garland Bio

Darius Garland is an American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on January 13, 2000 in Gary, Indiana and grew up playing basketball from a young age.

Garland attended Brentwood Academy near Nashville, Tennessee before attending Vanderbilt University. As a freshman at Vanderbilt he appeared in five games before suffering a season-ending meniscus injury to his left knee. Despite this setback, Garland declared for the 2019 NBA draft right after the injury and was drafted 5th overall by Cleveland Cavaliers.

This past year has been one of mixed results for Garland as he joined Collin Sexton to form what looks like it could be a dynamic backcourt duo in Cleveland’s rebuilding process. He averaged 12 points per game while shooting 40 percent from three-point range but also had some difficulty creating his own shot against NBA defenders and struggled with turnovers throughout most of the season. However, despite these struggles he still finished 4th among rookies in total assists with 132 which proved that he can be an effective playmaker when given the opportunity.

During the 2020–21 season Darius has shown significant improvement over last year’s performance averaging 17 points per game while shooting 45 percent from 3 point range which is good enough to be ranked 8th among all starting guards across league so far this season . What’s even more encouraging are how often Darius looks to create plays for himself off screens or pick-and-roll situations where his court vision allows him to make passes into tight spaces resulting in open opportunities for teammates making him one of most promising lead guards under age 25 currently playing in NBA today .

In terms of physical attributes , Darius stands 6 feet 2 inches tall , weighing around 175 pounds making him slightly undersized compared with other point guards but uses quickness & agility along with solid ball handling ability & shiftiness off dribble drive move combined well balanced frame allow him too create space & get shots off efficiently which help elevate level as both scorer& playmaker .

His future outlook appears bright moving forward as whether it’s taking advantage mismatches consistently or finding cutting teammates off dribble penetration , Darius seems destined become cornerstone franchise Cavalier organization will look upon build championship contender team around during upcoming years ahead .
