Yorgan De Castro is an American professional mixed martial artist who currently competes in the heavyweight division of the UFC. He is a former fighter for promotions such as Legacy Fighting Alliance, Resurrection Fighting Alliance, and Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
De Castro was born in Cape Verde and raised on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. He began training martial arts at age 14 under the instruction of Sensei Ralph Gracie, who taught him Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). After high school he joined Team Link where his BJJ skills flourished.
In 2013, De Castro made his amateur MMA debut with a submission victory over Peter Griggs while competing for NEF Fight Night 8: Last Man Standing. In 2014 he made his professional debut against Arnold Adams at CES MMA 24: Tremont vs Gomes, winning by technical knockout (TKO) in just 30 seconds of the first round. He went undefeated for four years going 9-0 with six finishes before making his promotional debut with LFA against Domingo Pilarte at LFA 33 in 2018 – winning via second round TKO to become the new interim bantamweight champion . This win earned him a spot on Dana White’s Tuesday night contender series that summer where he defeated Justin Sumter via unanimous decision after three rounds earning himself a contract with The Ultimate Fighter promotion company – which later became known as UFC or Ultimate Fighting Championship when it merged into one organization back in 2011..
Since then De Castro has gone 3-2 record inside The Octagon including notable victories over Alton Meeks and Justin Tafa while suffering losses to Ben Rothwell and Greg Hardy respectively since joining the roster back 2018., proving himself to be one of if not thee most promising prospects among rising stars within UFC’s current crop Heavyweights,.
