BIOGRAPHY

Warlley Alves is a professional mixed martial artist from Brazil who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He initially made his name on the Brazilian circuit, and quickly rose to prominence after winning The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 Welterweight Tournament in 2014.

Alves was born in São Paulo, and grew up with two sisters. At an early age he became involved in judo, eventually earning his black belt at just sixteen years old. He soon began training at Barbosa Jiu Jitsu where he crossed paths with future UFC star Vitor Belfort as well as Marcos Vinicius “Payasito” who became his head coach while competing on TUF Brazil 3.

Alves made his professional MMA debut in 2011, scoring a first round submission win over Rodolfo Frois in just over one minute of combat; this victory earned him Combat Extreme’s featherweight championship title. From there he went undefeated for five more bouts before being signed by the UFC and competing on season three of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil which featured dual middleweight teams headed by Wanderlei Silva and Lucas Martins respectively; Alves would ultimately defeat Marcio Alexandre Jr to take home the tournament trophy at welterweight.

At UFC 194 Warlley faced off against Colby Covington; this bout ended controversially when referee Leon Roberts concluded that Covington had been unlawfully striking during a takedown attempt resulting in disqualification instead of awarding Alves with TKO/KO victory or even a no-contest ruling – many fans viewed this ending as unsatisfactory due to it not having been clear if strikes were thrown or not during the failed takedown attempt prior to stoppage time being called. Since then however Warlley has gone 4-3 inside Octagon including notable wins against Alan Jouban & Nordine Taleb , but most recently suffered an unanimous decision loss to Mounir Lazzez back June 2020 . In total across all promotions Alves boasts a 12-4 record overall having competed twenty times since beginning MMA career more than nine years ago now .

Throughout history Warlley has developed himself into both technical striker & powerful grappler capable of submissions from bottom position even – something interestingly enough very few wrestlers can do well . Despite current slump likely related partly due limited activity during pandemic situation ; statistically speaking Alvess’ performance earnings backed up so far by UFC are still quite impressive considering only four losses experienced out almost 16 total fights fought under organization thus far – making him one bright prospects coming out contemporary Brazilian scene today , plus still yet relatively young fighter at 30 year’s old too !
