BIOGRAPHY
Stipe Miocic is an American professional mixed martial artist and firefighter who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is the current UFC Heavyweight Champion, and holds the record for most consecutive title defenses in that division.
Miocic was born on August 19th, 1982 in Euclid, Ohio. He attended Eastlake North High School where he wrestled and played football. After graduating high school, he attended Cleveland State University where he received a degree in Business Administration. In addition to his studies at CSU Stipe also continued his athletic career by competing nationally as a wrestler.
In 2010 Miocic made his professional MMA debut with NAAFS: Rock N Rumble 6 against Devin Cole; winning via TKO (punches) at 0:26 of Round 1. He would go on to win eight of his next ten fights before signing with UFC in 2011 after successfully defeating Joey Beltran via unanimous decision at UFC 136. Despite being considered an underdog for much of his early career due to lack of experience compared to other fighters in the heavyweight division, Stipe showed promise from early on by impressing fans with impressive performances against Roy Nelson, Gabriel Gonzaga and Fabricio Werdum—all three victories were won via knockout or technical knockout within two rounds each respectively showcasing Miocic’s power as well as technical abilities inside the octagon.
At UFC 198 on May 14th 2016 Miocic gained one step closer to becoming heavyweight champion by stopping Fabricio Werdum via KO/TKO late into round one thus earning himself a title shot against then-champion Cain Velasquez later that year at UFC 196; whom lost due primarily thanks to Stipe’s powerful punches which landed him several knockdowns throughout the fight eventually leading him towards victory just over 4 minutes into round 1—earning him praise from both fans and critics alike for such an impressive performance under immense pressure making him now officially crowned heavyweight champion of the world! Since then Stipe has defended this crown four times consecutively setting a new record for consecutive title defenses among all divisions currently held by any fighter competing today within The Ultimate Fighting Championship Organisation His success has been welcomed not only within MMA circles but throughout Europe where he continues gaining respect from those around him even outside sport circles including politicians who recognise what this incredible athlete had achieved during such short space period time since entering profession combat sports industry inspiring many others along way paving new future paths current aspiring athletes imaginable!
