Nora Cornolle is a French mixed martial artist currently competing in the UFC’s Flyweight division. A successful veteran of European MMA promotions, she is one of the best strikers in women’s MMA and is renowned for her aggressive yet accurate stand-up game.
Cornolle was born on February 9, 1989 in Marseille, France to an Algerian mother and French father. She began training karate at 8 years old and developed a passion for combat sports while growing up. At age 14, Cornolle started kickboxing classes before eventually transitioning to Muay Thai when she turned 18 which she would continue to train until joining a professional fight camp at 21 years old.
In 2013 Cornolle made her professional debut with the Belgian-based promotion Made4TheCage where she won both fights by TKO over experienced opponents in just over two minutes combined. From there, Cornolle fought exclusively for European promotions such as Cage Warriors and Invicta FC where she compiled an impressive 11-3 record against some of Europe’s top talent including UFC veterans Gillian Robertson and Jodie Esquibel among others . Her most notable victories came via decision wins against Delany Okamoto(UFC)and Vanessa Melo (UFC).
In July 2020 it was announced that Nora had signed with the UFC after accepting an invitation from Dana White during a broadcast of “Dana White: Lookin’ For A Fight”. Her octagon debut took place at UFC 255 where faced off against Katlyn Chookagian but unfortunately lost via split decision after being outstruck throughout the three rounds. Despite this setback Nora has remained positive about her experience inside the octagon stating “ It was an amazing experience fighting in front of millions around world I am looking forward to getting back into training camp so I can show everyone what I am truly capable of!”
Following her loss at 255 Nora hopes to make big improvements ahead of her next fight inside the octagon as well as compete successfully outside it too having recently accepted roles as ambassador for charities such as To Write Love On Her Arms(TWLOHA), which stands against suicide prevention amongst young adults . When asked about why supporting these kind organisations matters ,she stated “I have been through battles both professionally and personally so if my story can help someone else go through their own battle then i’m more than happy to do whatever i can help them out “.
With only four years pro experience under her belt ,Nora still has plenty time left ahead to refine all aspects of combat sports even further .So far we’ve seen glimpses greatness from this exciting new force within women’s flyweight division & given enough hard work & dedication no doubt we’ll be seeing many more memorable performances soon !
