Joanna Jedrzejczyk is a Polish mixed martial artist and current UFC women’s strawweight champion. She is widely regarded as one of the best female fighters in the world, having won eight consecutive title defenses, setting a new record for her weight class.
Born Joanna Jędrzejczyk on August 18th, 1987 in Olsztyn, Poland, she started karate when she was 12 years old. After completing high school and college studies in physical education and coaching special needs children at the Special School No. 2 in Olsztyn, Joanna decided to pursue her dreams of becoming an MMA fighter full-time.
After turning professional in 2012 with 3 wins under her belt via unanimous decision or submission due to strikes/armbar respectively; she made it onto TUF: The Smashes (The Ultimate Fighter) series as part of Team Australia vs Team UK which aired on Fox Sports 1 during late 2012-2013 season where she lost by split decision to Aisling Daly who would go undefeated until 2017 when Anna Elmose defeated her by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night Dublin – McGregor vs Brandao event held there July 19th 2014 which also happened to be Joanna’s Octagon debut (UFC).
She then went on a nine fight unbeaten streak that included 8 title defences for the Women’s Strawweight Championship making history with each defense as no other woman had gone more than two consecutive defenses since Ronda Rousey defended against Miesha Tate (3 times) before being dethroned by Holly Holm; while Rose Namajunas was only able to win once against Karolina Kowalkiewicz before losing back out at UFC 223 – Khabib vs Iaquinta held April 7 2018 where we saw “Thug” Rose become Champion with a rear naked choke submission victory over JJ & just one year later would suffer another loss this time via split decision at UFC 231 – Holloway vs Ortega where Valentina Shevchenko became champion after defeating Lilian Garcia via unanimous decision earlier that night & Tyron Woodley defeated Darren Till via corner stoppage after 5 rounds resulting from Doctor Stoppage due injury sustained during round 4 .
