BIOGRAPHY

Herbert Burns is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and jiu-jitsu black belt, currently signed to the UFC. He was born on August 19, 1993 in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. His brother, Gilbert Burns is also a professional MMA fighter. Herbert began his martial arts training at the young age of 12 when he learned Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu under Master Bibi Vianna at Instituto Reação. He went on to become a black belt by 2011 under Master Bibi Vianna as well.

Burns made his professional MMA debut in 2012 with eight fights before joining the UFC in 2018. In 2014 he defeated future UFC Fight Night light heavyweight prospect Paul Craig while competing for Brave 6: Middleweight Grand Prix tournament quarterfinals in Manama Bahrain. He has earned six submission victories throughout his professional career via rear naked choke, triangle choke and armbar submissions respectively .

In 2016, Burns debuted for Rizin Fighting Federation where he would go on to have four successful bouts over two years which included wins over Kazuyuki Miyata and Erson Yamamoto amongst others; as well as winning him numerous Submission of The Night awards from various events within Japan’s promotion .

Burns joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2018 making his promotional debut against Dan Moret at UFC Fight Night 139 in Denver Colorado and was declared winner by unanimous decision after three rounds of action; earning him Performance of The Night honors that night too . Since then Herbert has gone on to win two more bouts inside the octagon scoring dominative victories over Nate Landwehr ꞌand Evan Dunhamꞌ , both ending inside 2 rounds due to ground & pound TKO stoppages respectively . As of May 2021 , Herbert holds an impressive record 14-2 across all major MMA promotions including 8 wins via strikes/submissions or combination thereof but also having faced notable opponents such as Dan Hooker along with former PFL Lightweight Champion Natan Schulte who were both submitted by Burns during their respective outings . Outside the cage Herbert can be found discussing training techniques or helping out fellow athletes whenever possible through social media platforms like Instagram & Twitter alike — often showing off highlights from other fighters either himself or those around him — demonstrating his passion for competition within this sport that no doubt still runs deep through his veins even after 10 years strong already!
