BIOGRAPHY
Gloria de Paula is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and professional fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. She began training at the age of 11, and has since become one of the most successful female fighters in the UFC.
As a child, Gloria was always interested in sports. She played volleyball and handball during her childhood, but fell in love with MMA when she saw it on TV for the first time. At 11 years old, she convinced her parents to let her train at a local gym and quickly became hooked on training and competing. From there, Gloria’s success only grew as she won multiple medals from various jiu-jitsu tournaments throughout Brazil before eventually winning two world championships while representing her country at ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships.
In 2015, Gloria made her official pro debut in MMA with Invicta FC where she earned back-to-back wins over Charmaine Tweet and Kaitlin Young respectively to secure herself a spot in The Ultimate Fighter 26: A New World Champion tournament which aired on Fox Sports 1 later that year. During TUF 26 competition, Gloria advanced all the way to semifinals where she lost via decision to eventual champion Sijara Eubanks after an explosive three round war that left fans talking about it long after it ended. Despite losing out on competing for TUF crown, this fight established Gloria as one of most promising athletes coming out of Brazil into women’s MMA scene around globe.
Following TUF run, de Paula signed with UFC where she put together 5 consecutive victories against opponents such as Emily Ducote (decision), Juliana Lima (submission), Karolina Kowalkiewicz (KO/TKO), Mara Romero Borella (submission) & Ashley Yoder (decision). Her record currently stands 6–1 overall with majority wins coming either by submission or KO/TKO giving evidence that she is equally proficient standing up as well ground game departments revealing true well rounded athlete inside cage .
Outside octagon ,de Paula also involved numerous charitable works Brazil including teaching jiu-jitsu classes children orphanages provide comfort elderly nursing homes .
