Aleksei Oleinik is a Ukrainian mixed martial artist, currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He began his professional career in 2002 and has fought for M-1 Global, Dream, KSW and Absolute Championship Berkut. He is known as one of the best submission grapplers in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) today.
Oleinik has established himself as a formidable opponent both on the feet and on the ground. His style involves using his powerful judo throws and submissions to gain control of an opponent during a fight. This strategy has seen him win multiple fights by submission throughout his career.
Oleinik made his UFC debut in 2014 at UFC Fight Night 44 where he defeated Anthony Hamilton via first round armbar submission. Since then he has gone onto compete against some of MMA’s most elite names such as Fabricio Werdum, Ben Rothwell, Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem just to name a few. Along with this impressive list of opponents Oleinik holds victories over notable fighters including Arjan Bhullar, Mark Hunt and Maurice Greene who are all ranked within their respective divisions within the UFC’s rankings system..
In 2020 Aleksei had three consecutive wins which included defeating Maurice Greene via first round Ezekiel choke at UFC 246; Fabricio Werdum via split decision at UFC 249; then Walt Harris via second round armbar also at UFC 249 – claiming Performance of The Night bonus for each victory respectively .These three remarkable performances saw Aleksei awarded Fighter Of The Year honors from multiple media outlets for 2020 including Sherdog , Inside BJJ & ESPN MMA Awards .
In 2021 Oleinik looks set to continue making waves within the heavyweight division after being matched up against Chris Daukaus on June 5th 2021 in Las Vegas,. As it stands Oleinik currently boasts an overall record consisting off 58 wins 28 losses 2 draws 1 no contest leaving him 4th place among active heavyweight fighter rankings according to Tapology ratings .
