BIOGRAPHY
Marlon Moraes is an elite mixed martial artist hailing from Brazil. Nicknamed Magic, the 32-year-old has been competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship for the past eight years, and is currently one of its top bantamweight contenders. He began his professional career in 2008 and went on to become a former World Series of Fighting Bantamweight Champion.
Born in Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro on April 26th 1988, Marlon developed an interest in combative sports at a young age. He started practicing judo when he was just five years old before transitioning to muay thai and Brazilian jiu-jitsu as a teenager. At 18 he had already won numerous regional titles across different disciplines and soon after turned pro as a fighter in his home country’s MMA scene where he quickly gained popularity among fans with his aggressive style of fighting combined with impressive technical skills.
In 2011 Moraes moved to the United States where he joined American Top Team (ATT), one of the world’s leading MMA training facilities based out of Florida. It was here that Marlon continued honing his craft under the guidance of coaches like Ricardo Liborio and Din Thomas who helped him develop into one of ATT’s most well regarded fighters today. Soon afterwards Marlon made headlines by winning 9 consecutive bouts while competing primarily under WSOF banner – including winning their coveted bantamweight title during this streak – making him arguably one of best pound-for-pound fighters outside UFC at that time period, even getting listed #12 on Sherdog’s list back then too!
Moraes finally got signed by UFC back 2017 after having gone 13 wins without any losses up until that point which granted him immediate title shot opportunity against current champion TJ Dillashaw right away; unfortunately Marlon lost via split decision but since then has bounced back impressively earning four consecutive victories over ranked opponents such as Jimmie Rivera (by Knockout), John Dodson (split decision) Raphael Assuncao (unanimous) & Aljamain Sterling(knockout). As result this already put him back into contention for another shot at championship gold something ultimately happened last year when faced off against Henry Cejudo whom eventually ended up winning match due knockout . Still despite loss it still showcased what type competitor Magic is capable being given chance compete world level despite not having much experience there yet still do very well so far!
Currently Moraes holds rank #3 among other male 135lb competitors also no stranger magazine covers videos appearances or interviews either fellow athletes media alike which shows just how popular really become even despite tough losses suffered throughout career thus far especially most recent ones against rival Aljamain Sterling earlier this month June 2020 … One thing sure though no matter outcome future fights will always have tons admirers both inside outside octagon continuing support all way towards achieving ultimate goal become undisputed king division someday soon!
