Born on April 3, 1995, William Grier is a well-known face in American professional football. As of right now, he is playing as a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the well-known teams of the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the professional league, he was part of the college football teams Florida Gators and West Virginia Mountaineers. Despite his excellent performance, Grier received a one-year suspension in October 2015 for testing positive for the banned drug, Ligandrol, a performance-enhancing substance. Although he claimed ignorance, the NCAA rejected his appeal and he wasn’t eligible to return until late into the 2016 season. In December 2015, he announced his transfer to West Virginia University.

Grier sat out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules but returned as the starting quarterback for West Virginia in the 2017 season. His first game with the Mountaineers garnered him 360 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, despite the loss to Virginia Tech. He continued to shine throughout the season, with surgery on a broken finger only pausing his stride.

In his senior season, Grier was awarded the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year. He also made a name for himself in the 2018 Big 12 Media Days where he was announced as the conference’s Preseason Offensive Player of the year and a first-team all-conference selection.

His professional career began with the Carolina Panthers in the 2019 NFL draft, initially as the third-string quarterback. Despite a few shaky starts and injuries, he persisted and got his first career start against the Indianapolis Colts. Over the next few years, he played for multiple NFL teams including the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, and the New England Patriots.
