Vince Biegel's Biography

Vincent James Biegel, known professionally as Vince Biegel, is an American former professional football linebacker remarked for both his prodigious football lineage and his impressive career. Born on July 2, 1993, his football roots trace back multiple generations. His father, Rocky Biegel, was a former linebacker for Brigham Young University (BYU) from 1988 to 1992, while his uncle, T.D., played a fullback with Rocky during the same period. His passion for football runs deeper into his lineage as his grandfather, Ken Biegel, served as a linebacker and offensive guard for the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds. The Biegel family’s tradition of football extends further to Vince’s younger brother, Hayden, an offensive tackle at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Named after the legendary Packers’ coach Vince Lombardi, Vince was brought up in a farming background, contributing his share of efforts with his siblings in their family’s cranberry marsh. They represent the fifth generation of the Biegel family working the same farm established back in 1919.

Vince’s undeniable passion for football paved his way to several achievements and recognitions in high school. During his senior year alone, he accrued remarkable stats, including 172 tackles, 21 sacks, three interceptions, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two defensive touchdowns. His exceptional performance earned him the title of the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Defensive Player of the Year. Moreover, he was honored as the 2011 Gatorade State Player of the Year in Wisconsin and later made it as a member of the 2011 USA Today All-USA high school football team.

After a competitive college admissions process in which he received scholarship offers from multiple universities, he decided to bring his talents to his home state. He committed to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and joined the Wisconsin Badgers football team as an outside linebacker from 2012 through 2016. Notably, in 2016, he was named Second-team All-Big Ten.

Following his successful college career, Biegel entered the professional sphere when he was drafted 108th overall by the Green Bay Packers in the 2017 NFL draft. However, his initiation into professional football took a rocky start as he suffered a foot fracture shortly after. Despite this setback, Vince fully committed to his professional football career, moving between teams and proving his worth.

In September 2018, New Orleans Saints signed him to their practice squad. Proving too valuable to be left off the field, he was promoted to the active roster that same year. The following year, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins, where he recorded his first career interception. Biegel’s time with the Dolphins was marked with ups and downs with his Achilles injury in August 2020 ruling him out for the season. However, his resilience saw him return to professional football, eventually signing an extension contract with the Dolphins in March 2021. After a brief release in September 2021, he was reinstated and later promoted to the active roster in November 2021.

After his stint with the Dolphins, Biegel signed with the Baltimore Ravens in May 2022. He was anticipated to make the team’s final roster due to his impressive performance during training camp. Unfortunately, his career took another turn when he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury while practicing. As a result, he was placed on injured reserve in August 2022.

Despite the hurdles he faced throughout his professional football career, Vince Biegel truly embodies resilience and the spirit of football. His story carries an important message for aspiring football players and fans alike: hold fast to your passion, and never flinch in the face of adversity. Through his dedication and perseverance in the sport he loves, Vince managed to make an impressive mark in the football arena. Carry this inspiration with you: use adversity as a stepping stone for your victories.
