Tyler Badie's Biography

Tyler Badie, a distinguished American professional footballer, was born on February 7, 2000. Having grown up in New Orleans, Badie’s life took a drastic turn in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated his hometown, causing his family to relocate to Randallstown, Maryland. As a child, he exhibited a passion for athletics, particularly excelling as a sprinter for the Owings Mills Track Club. His raw talent led to him competing in the 2011 AAU Junior Olympics.

Badie’s mother’s job offer in Memphis, Tennessee, led the family to relocate once again. This move prompted Badie to transfer from his high school to Briarcrest Christian School. It is here that the budding athlete first began to distinguish himself on the football field. As a junior, he made an impressive showing, rushing for 400 yards and scoring three touchdowns with just 40 carries. His senior season only saw his performance escalate as he carried the ball 193 times, amassing 1,186 yards and netting an impressive 18 touchdowns.

Post high school, Badie went on to play college football at Missouri, where he became an acclaimed running back. In his freshman year, he performed in 12 games, finishing the season with an impressive 437 yards and two touchdowns, achieved with 89 carries. His prowess on the field earned him a total of 809 all-purpose yards and a spot on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman team. His junior year saw him anchor a very impressive 242 yards on 48 attempts, along with four touchdowns, and 28 catches for 333 yards and two touchdowns.

After a shining collegiate career, Badie’s professional journey began with his selection by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round during the 2022 NFL draft. Despite being waived on August 30, 2022, he got signed onto the Ravens’ practice squad the next day. Fate brought Badie to the Denver Broncos on December 29, 2022, when he was signed by them off the Ravens’ practice squad. His NFL debut was a memorable one, occurring in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers. In his debut, Badie’s first NFL touch was a rewarding one, as he scored a 24-yard touchdown, courtesy of a Russell Wilson pass.

Despite being waived by the Broncos on August 29, 2023, Badie was re-signed to their practice squad and thereafter secured a reserve/future contract on January 8, 2024. The year 2024 saw another setback for Badie when he was waived yet again by the Broncos on August 27 only to be re-signed to the practice squad the very next day. His time to shine would soon, however, arrive.

Badie found himself elevated for the Broncos’ Week 2 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In this game, he performed admirably, playing three offensive snaps, securing one catch for 2 yards, and one rush for an impressive 16 yards. The following week saw him lead the Broncos’ rushing charge against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He amassed an impressive 70 yards on just nine carries. On September 25, his outstanding performance earned him a place on the Broncos’ active roster.

His successful streak blemished during Week 4 against the New York Jets when an unfortunate back injury led to his placement on injured reserve on October 5.
