Tashawn Alexander Bower, more commonly known as Tashawn Bower, is a celebrated American football linebacker who currently stands as a free agent. Born on February 18, 1995, Bower carved a successful career in the National Football League (NFL), capturing the attention of teams and fans alike with his talent and determination.

Growing up in Kenilworth, New Jersey, Bower’s long and fruitful journey with football began at Immaculata High School in Somerville, New Jersey. The days spent honing his skills on the high school turf paved the way for his successful stint at Louisiana State University (LSU). The passion for the game that ignited in high school thrived and grew over the years, shaping Bower into the formidable linebacker that he is known as today.

After his college career, undeterred by the ups and downs of being an undrafted player, Bower signed with NFL team the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent on May 1, 2017. His impressive skillset and hard work quickly bore fruit and he made the 53-man roster of the team, proving that his talent was impossible to overlook. His NFL debut came on October 29, 2017, against the Cleveland Browns, creating a ripple of excitement as he took action on special teams.

Bower’s second game proved even more exciting when he played his first defensive game against the Los Angeles Rams and marked his first career sack on November 19, 2017. His breakthrough moment arrived when he brought down Jared Goff, the Rams’ quarterback, etching his name firmly in the game.

Overcoming obstacles is part and parcel of an athlete’s life, something Bower discovered during the 2019 offseason when he suffered a career-halting torn Achilles. This unfortunate development led to his placement on the non-football injury list. Despite this setback, Bower didn’t lose hope and continued to work on his recovery. In another twist in his career, he was waived off the non-football injury list on October 15, 2019.

Not too long after that, on November 21, 2019, Bower was signed to the practice squad of another notable NFL team, the New England Patriots. His commitment to the sport and his dedication to recovery ensured that he signed a reserve/future contract with the team on January 7, 2020.

The following year, another wave of challenges arrived when the Patriots waived Bower on September 5, 2020, but swiftly added him to the practice squad a day later. He returned to the active roster for the team’s week 7 and 8 games against the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills on October 24 and 31, respectively.

Despite subsequent reverts to the practice squad after each game, Bower climbed the ranks and was officially promoted to the active roster on November 9. An unfortunate turn of events saw him placed on injured reserve on December 31, 2020.

In the following year, on August 31, 2021, Bower was once again waived by the Patriots and re-signed to the practice squad. However, his skill and determination didn’t go unnoticed for long. On November 25, 2021, he was signed by The Vikings off the Patriots practice squad.

In a significant shift, Bower was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders on April 11, 2022, further diversifying his professional career. His journey took him next to the New York Giants, who signed him on July 25, 2023. Despite being released on August 27, the future remains bright for this resilient athlete.
