Quentin Johnston

Quentin Johnston, famously known as “Q-Money,” is a professional American football player who was born on September 6, 2001. He has been making a name for himself in the football world as a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Chargers, part of the highly competitive National Football League (NFL). His journey in the sport demonstrated his dedication, hard work, and perseverance as he climbed his way up from Temple, Texas, to a distinguished stage in the NFL.

Raised in Temple, Texas, Quentin’s talent was evident as he attended Temple High School. Though the recruitment process is often dotted with uncertainty and pressure, Quentin handled everything with grace. He earned himself a four-star recruit rating and initially, he committed to play college football at Texas.

However, Quentin later flipped his commitment to Texas Christian University (TCU), due to the dismissal of Texas wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer, demonstrating that his focus lied in his overall development and future in the sport.

At TCU, Quentin made an immediate impact. As a true freshman, he became a starter and caught 22 passes totaling up to team-high 487 yards and scored two touchdowns. With an average of 22.1 yards per catch, Quentin set a record for highest yards per catch by a true freshman in the history of the Big 12 Conference.

Quentin’s journey in college football didn’t stop there. His sophomore year saw him being named to the First Team All-Big 12. He led TCU with 33 passes caught which converted to a hefty 612 receiving yards, and he also scored six touchdowns. These numbers only added to his growing reputation as a star in the making.

In a significant move, Quentin chose to forgo his senior season and enter the 2023 NFL draft on January 16, 2023. This decision highlighted his readiness to take on the professional arena and test his mettle. The Los Angeles Chargers identified his potential and drafted him with the 21st overall pick in the NFL draft, solidifying his future as an NFL player.

Johnston’s journey with the Chargers was off to a promising start. He scored his first career touchdown in a Week 10 game against the Detroit Lions, a 38–41 loss where he made a 1-yard reception from Justin Herbert. His second touchdown quickly followed in Week 15, with a 6-yard reception from backup quarterback Easton Stick against the Las Vegas Raiders, despite the game resulting in a 21–63 loss.

In his rookie season, Quentin played a total of seventeen games and made ten starts. With 38 receptions, 431 yards, and two touchdowns to round out his impressive first year, Quentin Johnston confirmed his place as a rising star with untapped potential in the NFL.
