Phillip Lindsay's Biography

Phillip Lindsay, born on July 24, 1994, in Denver, Colorado, grew up in nearby Aurora before attending South High School in Denver. Here, Lindsay commenced his fervent love affair with football, a sport in which he would prove to have an extraordinary talent.

Tirelessly working to secure the title of the school’s all-time leading rusher, Lindsay achieved a record-shattering 4,587 yards. His talent was clear from the outset, as was his dedication to honoring family tradition – following in the steps of his father Troy, he also played running back and even donned the same jersey number as his father, 22. His high school journey was not devoid of challenges, however. As senior year saw him overcome his father’s record, Lindsay suffered a severe ACL tear, curtailing what was shaping up to be another triumphant season.

Notwithstanding the setback, the allure of his untapped potential convinced Mike MacIntyre, the coach at the University of Colorado Boulder, to uphold Lindsay’s scholarship offer for the 2013 season. This period saw Lindsay branch out beyond football, and he also lettered in basketball as a freshman before earning four-year letters in track and field. The athletic prowess was unquestionable, with sprints, relays, and personal bests of 10.9 seconds, 22.2, and 49.0 for the 100-meter, 200, and 400 dashes respectively setting his time at high school apart.

The move to the University of Colorado Boulder in 2013 heralded a new chapter in Lindsay’s football career. Redshirting his first season, his efforts on the scout team won him the title of “Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year.” Lindsay’s on-field persona, brimming with quickness and determination, earned him the nickname “Tasmanian Devil” from Head Coach MacIntyre as he moved into the 2014 season. He bagged himself a prominent position in the team, leading the Buffaloes in kick returns and return yards and accomplishing a spot in the top four for overall rushing yards. Lindsay’s upward trajectory continued, securing him the lead in rushing attempts and rushing yards in 2015.

Sticking firm against the tide of adversity or complacency, Lindsay had proven himself an indomitable presence on the field. The 2016 season saw him rush for 1,252 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. A mere year later, he obliterated his personal best with a career-high 281 yards against Arizona.

Transforming these on-field experiences into new chapters of Colorado history, Lindsay set the school record for all-purpose yards and yards from scrimmage. His contributions propelled him to the second spot in school history for rushing yardage and fifth in points scored.

As his college career wrapped, Lindsay left a lasting imprint on football at Colorado. Unsigned by the NFL, Lindsay’s football journey appeared to be waning. However, fate intervened when the Denver Broncos signed Lindsay as an undrafted free agent in 2018.

Lindsay, driven with astounding determination to break records, became the first ever undrafted offensive rookie elected to the Pro Bowl. Equally astonishing, Lindsay is the only NFL player since 1950 to record 700 or more career touches without a single fumble.

As the years went on, Lindsay continued to recover from injuries, endure rejections, and celebrate new opportunities. He built up a professional career with the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, and more recently, the Indianapolis Colts, across a five-year span.

Yet, Lindsay’s professional career wasn’t simply confined to the American NFL leagues. He explored other horizons, signing with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL. Even in this new setting, he continues to demonstrate his talent and commitment to the game he loves.

In essence, Phillip Lindsay’s journey is a testament to relentless determination. His rise from a high school record-breaker to a renowned NFL player showcases not just extraordinary talent, but exceptional willpower, dedication, and an unfaltering love for the game of football.
