Patrick Queen's Biography

Patrick Queen was born on August 13, 1999, in Ventress, Louisiana, to Dwayne and Mary Sue Queen. As the only son and youngest of four children, Queen grew up with a profound love for football even at his tender age. He played football in middle school at False River Academy and then proceeded to Livonia High School.

As a high-schooler, Queen was a force to be reckoned with on the football field. He played for the Livonia High School football team both as a linebacker and a running back. His prowess led the team to secure the 2014 state championship football title. Further amplifying his status as a potential star, Queen, in his senior year, recorded an impressive 1,487 yards and 19 touchdowns on the offensive end. He also had 66 tackles, seven tackles for losses, and six passes broken up on the defense side of the game. This performance set the stage for his participation in the 2014 National Combine, where he received first-team honors as a cornerback.

Interestingly, despite his impressive performance in high school football and earning a four-star prospect rating, Queen received offers from mostly smaller schools like Tulane and Louisiana–Monroe, among others. That was until he received offers from Nebraska, Indiana, and, finally, his dream school, Louisiana State University (LSU), which he committed to, making him the first player from Livonia to earn a scholarship from LSU.

Patrick Queen then wrote his part of the history of LSU notches higher when he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2020 NFL Draft. The then 21-year-old linebacker was the 28th overall pick of the draft, scoring a significant mention as the first LSU player ever selected by the Ravens.

In his inaugural season as a professional, Queen was nothing short of astounding. He made his debut with an impressive team-high eight tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in a thrilling 38-6 win over the Cleveland Browns. The rookie continued to make a name for himself during a week 5 face-off against the Cincinnati Bengals. He recorded 106 total tackles (66 solo), one interception, two passes defended, and two forced fumbles, earning his place in the PFWA All-Rookie Team. In 2021, he switched his jersey number from 48 to 6, in line with the new NFL’s jersey number rules.

Queen showcased his consistency in the 2022 season as he started in all 17 games. His stats were phenomenal: five sacks, 117 total tackles (79 solo), two interceptions, six passes defended, and one forced fumble. Although Queen’s fifth-year option was declined prior to the season, he made the best of the situation by setting a career-high with 133 total tackles (84 solo) and tied his career-high in pass breakups. An honor arrived in the form of his first Pro Bowl selection prior to Week 18.

Moving on from the Ravens, Queen signed a three-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers worth $41 million on March 15, 2024. The move came after a fulfilling stint with the Ravens, and given his track record, Queen is poised to make significant contributions to the Steelers.

As it stands, Patrick Queen’s journey from a small Louisiana town to the NFL demonstrates his tenacity, skill, and determination. Whether on the field for the LSU Tigers, Baltimore Ravens, or Pittsburgh Steelers, Queen has consistently proved himself as a formidable force in American football.
