Born on September 23, 1998, Nahshon Wright is a professional American football player who stands as a formidable cornerback for Minnesota Vikings. This young talent has carved a magnificent career record in the world of football, weaved with numerous significant games and achievements that make him a noteworthy player in the industry.

Before his professional career, Wright attended James Logan High School, where he displayed his sporty instincts and love for football. He played assertively as a wide receiver and cornerback, simultaneously enhancing his interest in basketball and track and field. Moving forward from school, he enrolled at Laney College, where he significantly contributed to the team’s grand win at the state championship in 2018.

While at Laney, he made 12 starts and tallied 17 tackles, of which 1.5 was for loss, bagged four interceptions, and defended three passes, for which he garnered All-conference honors. Subsequently, in 2019, Wright transferred to Oregon State University to enhance his football journey. As a sophomore, he impressively appeared in all 12 games with ten starts, making 34 tackles, amongst which half a tackle was for loss and three interceptions.

The following year, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, which drastically reduced the football season to only seven games. In spite of the short season, Wright demonstrated his sportsmanship by starting in six games, registering 30 tackles, two interceptions, four passes defensed, and one sack. He played highly contributing games against California, Oregon, and Stanford, proving his worth. After the season, he smartly declared for the NFL Draft.

In 2021, Wright was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round as the 99th player in the NFL draft. His selection received mixed reviews from the media, where some considered it as a bit of a reach, while others praised the team for selecting him over notable defensive backs such as Elijah Molden, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Ambry Thomas, and Brandon Stephens. Wright signed a four-year rookie contract with Dallas worth $4.8 million. He displayed his value in multiple games against the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons, mainly on special teams, finishing his first season with a decent record.

In 2022, concluding the season with 22 tackles and one interception, Wright proved his worth in the field. Despite initial bouts of struggles and replacing players in a few games, he led the defense in his game against the Tennessee Titans with a career-best 9 tackles. Though he faced some difficulties with penalties in his two starts and missed out on the playoffs, Wright’s talent was far from fizzling out.

The year 2023 saw Wright grappling with an unfortunate ankle injury, putting him on injured reserve. However, the setback was temporary as he was back in the field in October, appearing in 12 games as a backup player and making some commendable moves.

In August 2024, Wright was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for Andrew Booth Jr., although he was waived soon after and re-signed to the practice squad. He continued to show resilience, determination, and a keen sense of loyalty to the game, even in the face of adversity.
