Michael Jacquet's Biography

Born on January 29, 1997, Michael Jacquet III has made a name for himself in American football as a persistent cornerback, navigating the challenges of being a free agent to carve out his own path. As an athletic prodigy from a young age, Jacquet’s journey to professional football commenced with his college years, playing for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns with fervor and distinction. The young player’s prowess on the field did not go unnoticed, leading to a pivotal moment in 2020 on the heels of the college league.

On April 26, immediately following the 2020 NFL draft, Jacquet entered the ranks of the Philadelphia Eagles, signing as an undrafted free agent. This marked the start of his professional career in the NFL. However, the early days of his career saw a rollercoaster of signings and waivers.

In September 2020, Jacquet fell victim to the final roster cuts, bidding farewell to his place on the Eagles. But his departure was short-lived. Within the same month, he returned, not to the main roster, but to the practice squad. The undulating rhythm of his career continued as he was moved back and forth between the active roster and the practice squad.

October 2020 saw him rub shoulders with the active players during the team’s weeks 8 and 10 games against formidable opponents, the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Each post-game period resulted in Jacquet’s relegation to the practice line-up. His time in the active roster may have been fleeting, but it advanced his career in memorable ways. The game against the Cowboys marked Jacquet’s first exposure to the professional arena, allowing the young cornerback to make his NFL debut.

His dedication and effort were soon recognized, signing him back onto the active roster on November 17, 2020. A moment of triumph arose in Week 15 when he went headfirst against the Arizona Cardinals. In this game, Jacquet recorded a career-first by forcing a fumble from DeAndre Hopkins, wide receiver of the Cardinals, allowing the Eagles to recover. He also bagged his first career sack on Kyler Murray, despite the Eagles suffering a 33–26 loss.

Jacquet’s tenure with the Eagles ended with him being waived and re-signed to the practice squad on August 31, 2021. Once again waived by the Eagles, Jacquet moved to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad in November 2021. He continued to navigate ups and downs in his career, facing releases and signings, starting with the New York Giants in May 2022, followed by being waived in August of the same year.

Michael’s journey then led him to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers on August 23, 2022. His association with the Chargers bore a striking resemblance to his past professional experience – a series of waivers and signings. Moving between the active roster and the practice squad, he finally signed a reserve/future contract on January 17, 2023. Despite all the setbacks, Jacquet worked his way back onto the field each time, exhibiting unyielding resilience. As of August 29, 2023, Jacquet was waived by the Chargers.
