McCallan Castles

Born on December 3, 1999, McCallan Verona Castles is a well-known professional football player, serving at the Tight End position on the Los Angeles Chargers team, a group partnered with the National Football League (NFL). Before turning professional, Castles honed his football-playing skills at various colleges, namely the University of California, UC Davis, and Tennessee University.

In his early years, Castles was nurtured in Berthoud, Colorado, and shaped his initial football skills at the local Berthoud High School. In the middle of his school career, following his sophomore year, Castles and his family relocated to South Lake Tahoe, California, he thus transferred to South Tahoe High School. At his new school, Castles displayed stellar performances catching 102 passes for 2,027 yards while scoring 27 touchdowns during his two-season period.

Consequently, this impressive track record prompted his entrance into college football, beginning with the California Golden Bears. Still brimming with youthful vigor, Castles engaged even in his first-year season, featuring in three games whilst holding a redshirt for that year. Noteworthy is how he caught a 15-yard pass during a victorious match against TCU in the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl, a crucial contribution that sealed the 10-7 win for the Bears. He, however, quit the team only two games into his sophomore year, later divulging his intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

In his journey towards football mastery, Castles found himself at UC Davis, a move that proved fruitful in his career. Held in high regard, Castles was awarded as the first-team All-Big Sky Conference after displaying remarkable skills in his first season by catching 12 passes for a staggering 194 yards and three touchdowns. Worth mentioning is how his performance was mirror-worthy, despite the truncated season which occurred amid the dull days of the endemic COVID-19 plaguing the United States in the spring of 2021. In the following season, he managed to scoop up the second-team All-Big Sky recognition after recording 27 receptions alongside 387 yards and four touchdowns. His final season holds 30 catches, 347 yards, and two touchdowns under his expert grip. Afterward, he rejoined the NCAA transfer portal to seize the additional year of eligibility given to players who participated in the 2020 season, disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The winds of Change blew again and cast Castles towards Tennessee University. Within the 2023 season, he played through all 13 games, making 22 receptions that yielded 283 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. Yet for Castles, the destination of pro football was still ahead, his conspicuous talent snatched the attention of the Philadelphia Eagles, who signed him on as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2024. Further acclaim followed soon after when he was selected by the Memphis Showboats in the ninth round of the 2024 UFL draft held on July 17. Regrettably, due to an injury, the Eagles waived him on August 3.

Not long after, on October 15, 2024, he was signed to the practice squad of the Los Angeles Chargers. So continues the career of McCallan Verona Castles, an ardent professional football Tight End player, head held high, and ready to conquer more arenas in the game he loves.
