Malik Harrison, born on March 5, 1998, has made a name for himself as a prominent American professional football linebacker. He is currently an integral part of the Baltimore Ravens, a team that competes in the National Football League (NFL). Before stepping into the professional league, he exhibited impressive football skills and a potent determination while playing college football at Ohio State. The Ravens recognized his capabilities and chose him in the third round of the NFL draft in 2020, marking the beginning of his professional journey.

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Harrison completed his schooling at Walnut Ridge High School. Here, his passion for sports began to flourish, particularly for football and basketball. His athletic prowess and versatility were evident on the football field where he showcased his skills in various roles – quarterback, wide receiver, running back, linebacker, and safety.

During his senior season in 2015, Harrison delivered an outstanding performance. He demonstrated his capacity as a dynamic rusher by achieving 897 yards and 15 touchdowns. Alongside, he displayed his passing abilities by contributing 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns. Valuable defensive plays were also part of his game, evident from his record of five sacks and forty tackles. Following a successful high school career, he decided to continue his football journey at the collegiate level by committing to Ohio State University.

At Ohio State, Harrison’s first year in 2016 saw him participate in 12 games. His involvement amplified in 2017 as he played in all 14 games of Ohio State’s season, compiling 36 tackles and two sacks. A turning point came in his junior season in 2018, where he secured a starting position on the team. His vital contributions led the team’s defense, tying for first place with 81 tackles, along with adding 8.5 tackles for loss. That year he received an All-Big Ten Conference honorable mention, underscoring his growing stature as an influential football player.

His efforts paid off when he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round, as the 98th pick in the 2020 NFL draft. On July 13, 2020, Harrison inked his four-year rookie contract with the team. A hurdle appeared in November the same year when he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team. Despite this setback, he bounced back and was activated merely four days later.

In 2021, Harrison suffered a non-life-threatening injury. He was shot in the left calf during a gathering in Cleveland on October 31. This incident led to his placement on the reserve/non-football injury list the following day. Nonetheless, he made a strong recovery and was back in action by November 27, 2021.

By 2024, Harrison had proven his worth to the Ravens, leading to his re-engagement with the team. On March 13, 2024, he signed a one-year contract extension with the Ravens, testifying to his invaluable contributions to his team.
