Jevon Holland's Biography

Jevon Holland, a Canadian-American professional football safety for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL), was born on March 3, 2000. His journey through the world of football began at a young age, influenced significantly by his father’s involvement in the Canadian Football League. The first signs of Holland’s talent in football started to show while he attended Bishop O’Dowd High School, based in Oakland, California.

Holland’s birthplace is Coquitlam, British Columbia, where his father was actively engaged as a player and coach in the Canadian Football League. The young athlete’s early experience was deeply rooted in his Canadian heritage, but he later moved to California, in the Pleasanton area of the Bay Area, where he explored his skills further in American football.

During his time at Bishop O’Dowd High School, Holland showcased exceptional talent as a defensive back and wide receiver, foretelling his future as a professional player. As a senior, he demonstrated impressive stats with 34 tackles, five interceptions on defense, and an admirable record as a receiver: 35 receptions for 1,012 yards, and 12 touchdowns. His skills earned him a place in the 2018 Polynesian Bowl.

After high school, Holland committed to the University of Oregon and became part of the renowned Oregon Ducks. As a true freshman in 2018, he became increasingly involved in games, participating in a total of 13 and starting twice. His performance for the season was impressive; he recorded 42 tackles and a team-leading five interceptions.

Holland’s momentum in the game continued to rise in his sophomore year in 2019, during which he started in all 14 games. Once again, he led the team with four interceptions and achieved 66 tackles and a touchdown. However, his time on the field was paused when he opted out of the 2020-21 college football season and declared for the 2021 NFL draft.

In the second round of the 2021 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Holland as their 36th pick. Interestingly, although he was eligible and ranked as the third-best Canadian prospect, he was not picked in the subsequent 2021 CFL Draft. Despite this, he officially joined the Miami Dolphins when he signed his four-year rookie contract on July 23, 2021.

As a rookie, Holland made significant strides on the field. He appeared in a total of 16 games, starting 13 and accumulating 2.5 sacks, 69 total tackles, two interceptions, and ten passes defensed. His performance earned him the honor of being named to the 2021 PFWA All-Rookie Team.

The 2022 season saw Holland start in all 17 games, continuing to demonstrate his innate skills within the sport. His performance included a record of 1.5 sacks, 96 total tackles, two interceptions, seven passes defended, and one forced fumble.

One of Holland’s shining moments was in a match against the New York Jets on November 24, 2023. He intercepted a hail mary pass by Tim Boyle at the end of the first half and returned a 99-yard touchdown, playing a pivotal role in the Dolphin’s 34-13 triumphant win. This exciting feat marked Holland’s first NFL touchdown, leaping a significant milestone in his football career.
