Harrison Bryant, born April 23, 1998, manifested distinct talent as a professional American football player, occupying a prominent role as tight end for the Las Vegas Raiders in the National Football League (NFL). His career took off during his time with Florida Atlantic Owls, where Bryant evolved into a unanimous All-American and a recipient of the prestigious John Mackey Award. His dedication to football from a young age became evident when he was scooped up by the Cleveland Browns in the fourth round of the remarkably competitive 2020 NFL draft.

Bryant’s journey to professional football started in the quaint town of Gray, Georgia. He attended John Milledge Academy where his athletic prowess blossomed. Initially, Bryant showed his knack for baseball and basketball, before fully developing his football talents. Playing two-way starter for the school’s football team and first serving as an offensive tackle, Bryant soon made an impressive shift to tight end before entering his senior year. In that year alone, he had 39 receptions for 608 yards and orchestrated 10 offensive touchdowns. Not limiting his competence to the offensive, Bryant made an equally bold statement on defense, boasting 100 tackles and 11 sacks.

His freshman year witnessed him gain a firm hold of his place in the team. With six catches delivering 63 yards, he made a definite impact. As a sophomore, he proved his mettle as the Owls’ starting tight end finishing the year with 32 receptions for 408 yards and five touchdowns, making him second-team All-Conference USA. As a junior, his performance was undeniably outstanding with 45 catches rendering 662 yards and four touchdowns. His performance was rewarded with the first team All-Conference seal of approval.

Bryant’s senior-year performance certainly engraved his name in the annals of NFL history. Leading all Division I tight ends, his scoresheet displayed an intimidating 65 receptions and 1,004 receiving yards alongside seven touchdown catches. His exceptional form continued, earning him first-team All-Conference USA again and the John Mackey Award as the nation’s best tight end. This achievement was a first for a player from a Group of Five conference and set him apart as a consensus first-team All-American. His career in college football was nothing short of remarkable, with a resounding 148 receptions totaling 2,137 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Post-college, Bryant was selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 115th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft’s fourth round. After signing his rookie contract with the Browns on May 20, 2020, he took his place on the professional landscape. Bryant had an auspicious debut on September 13, accumulating one catch for five yards. His first career touchdown, a three-yard reception resulted from a pass by Baker Mayfield in a game led against the Washington Football Team on September 27, 2020. During Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals, he recorded four receptions for 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns, a performance that won the Browns their victory and marked him as the first rookie tight end with multiple touchdowns in the same game since Harry Holt in 1983.

His stride was temporarily paused on December 29, 2020, as he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list but swiftly resumed by January 9, 2021. Bryant firmly established himself in his rookie season, finishing with 24 receptions for 238 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games, landing him a coveted place in the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Bryant’s journey took a turn on March 14, 2024, when he signed a one-year contract with Las Vegas Raiders, opening a new chapter in his already stellar career.
