Amik Robertson Bio
Amik Robertson is a renowned American football superstar who has carved a niche for himself in a field predominantly known for its competitive nature. Born on July 6, 1998, he now holds a valuable place as the cornerback player on the Detroit Lions team, one of the esteemed franchises in the National Football League (NFL).
Though Robertson has made a name for himself with the Detroit Lions, his football journey began years earlier. He was a student at Thibodaux High School located in Thibodaux, Louisiana, where he had his first taste of football. At Thibodaux, he was regarded as a 3-star recruit. His evident skills on the field had him on the radar of numerous college football programs. He had offers from remarkable institutions such as Houston, Kansas State, and Louisiana State University (LSU), among others. Despite multiple offers, his commitment to Louisiana Tech to play football there signified the beginning of his professional career.
From 2017 to 2019, during his time at Louisiana Tech University, his talent, leadership, and consistency were at the forefront of his phenomenal college football career. Notably, at the university, Robertson secured a position as a starter in his freshman year and performed so well that he maintained the position throughout his college years. He was also notably the Defensive Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the 2017 Frisco Bowl.
His overall performance was so significant that, in his junior year, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) recognized his efforts by listing him as a first-team All-American — a prestigious honor in college football. His impressive stats speak for themselves. He finished his college career boasting 184 tackles, 14 interceptions, four sacks, and three touchdowns under his belt. His stellar performance in his junior year was the segue to the next level of his football journey—the National Football League (NFL). After his junior season, he decided to forgo his senior season and entered the 2020 NFL draft.
The 2020 NFL draft was a pivotal moment in Robertson’s career. The Las Vegas Raiders cast their vote of confidence in Robertson’s skill by selecting him in the fourth round with the 139th pick. At this juncture, his professional football career officially took off, and the young, talented cornerback was on a new journey to add to his already impressive football resume.
In March 2024, Detroit Lions recognized Robertson’s performance and snapped him up by offering a two-year contract. Today, Robertson continues to demonstrate his football prowess on the field as a steadfast, agile and intelligent player for the Detroit Lions.
