Foster Moreau is a well-established professional American Football player who currently holds the position of tight end for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL). Born on May 6, 1997, he has risen through the ranks and earned a name in his chosen field. Moreau previously adorned the Las Vegas Raiders’ jersey from 2019 to 2022, showcasing his talents and contributing significantly to the game.

Moreau’s football journey kicked off in New Orleans, where he spent his formative years. He attended Jesuit High School, becoming an active participant in the local sports scene, especially football and basketball. Earning his success through hard work and determination, Moreau had a stellar High School senior year, where he successfully caught 34 passes, accumulating 454 yards and six touchdowns, leading the Blue Jays to win the LHSAA Division I state championship.

His exceptional performance didn’t go unnoticed. Moreau was ranked as a three-star prospect by 24/7 Sports and earned a two-star rating from Rivals.com. Multiple universities, including Tulane, Mississippi State, Air Force, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, and Louisiana-Lafayette, offered him a chance to play football. However, Moreau decided to continue his football journey at Louisiana State University.

Amid four seasons with the LSU Tigers, Moreau made significant contributions to the team. Initially, he focused mainly on special teams, working with the kick return unit and operating as a blocking tight end. His contributions gradually escalated with six receptions for 79 yards and one touchdown in his sophomore year. His role increased in the third year when he caught 24 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns, marking it as the most productive season in his college football journey.

Year four saw Moreau entering into the watchlist for the Mackey Award, being named team captain, and getting the privilege to wear the No. 18 Jersey by the Tigers’ coaching staff. Moreau continued his strong performance, catching 22 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns and demonstrating his blocking skills on the field goal unit. His college career culminated with 52 receptions for 629 yards and six touchdowns across 49 games (32 starts). Upon the senior season’s conclusion, Moreau got invited to play in the 2019 Senior Bowl, where he impressed NFL scouts and made a concrete impression.

In recognition of his invaluable talent, Moreau was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round as the 137th overall pick during the 2019 NFL draft. Subsequently, on May 2, 2019, he signed a four-year contract worth $3 million, with a $488,484 signing bonus.

Moreau initiated his NFL journey on September 9, 2019, against the Denver Broncos, making two receptions for 20 yards on Monday Night Football. He scored his first career touchdown, with an 18-yard reception, on September 29, 2019, contributing to a 31–24 win against the Indianapolis Colts.

Sadly, his rookie season prematurely ended when he was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury sustained on December 9, 2019, in a game against the Tennessee Titans. Despite his injury, he still completed his rookie season with notable success, making 21 catches for 174 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games (seven starts). His contributions were recognized, and he was named in Pro Football Focus’s All-Rookie team.

The following year, Foster Moreau made headlines when he was fined $15,000 by the NFL for attending an unmasked charity event during the COVID-19 pandemic in violation of league protocols, hosted by his teammate Darren Waller. However, he managed to bounce back with seven catches on nine targets for 140 yards and two touchdowns for the season.

In 2023, he inked a three-year deal worth $12 million with the New Orleans Saints, including $8 million guaranteed. However, his career took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma during a routine physical examination in March 2023. Deciding to focus on his health, Moreau temporarily stepped away from the sport on March 22.

After a hard-fought battle and successful completion of his treatment, Moreau re-signed a three-year, $12-million contract with the Saints on May 10. Come July 3, he shared exhilarating news via social media, announcing his cancer was in full remission, marking a significant victory off the field.
