BIOGRAPHY

Devonte Malik Wyatt, renowned as a promising talent in the world of professional football, was born on March 31, 1998. He champions the position of defensive tackle with the esteemed team, Green Bay Packers, in the National Football League (NFL). His journey into professional football commenced during his college years at Georgia and culminated in being a first-round selection by the Packers in the prestigious 2022 NFL draft.

Born and raised in Decatur, Georgia, Wyatt’s love for football began at Towers High School. His exceptional performance on the field earned him the rating of a three-star recruit. His initial football career trajectory was aimed towards South Carolina where he had committed to play college football. However, opting for a different path, Wyatt de-committed from South Carolina and tried to align his aspirations with Georgia. His previous academic record acted as a hurdle when he was declared academically ineligible to play football at Georgia, leading him to miss the chance to enroll.

In order to overcome his academic predicament and secure his pathway into Division I football, Wyatt embarked on his collegiate journey at Hutchinson Community College. His football prowess shone throughout his freshman year as he demonstrated an impressive performance of 30 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks. This on-field triumph coupled with his improved academics led Wyatt to qualify for enrollment at Georgia after his freshman season.

During his time at Georgia, Wyatt remarkably became part of the formidable defensive line rotation during his sophomore and junior years. His senior year unveiled even more of his football prowess. Wyatt played an instrumental role in leading his team to multiple victories, consistently starting in all ten games that season. This achievement went hand-in-hand with a proud record of 25 tackles, two tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hurries.

Thoughts of entering the 2021 NFL draft did cross Wyatt’s mind. But the coronavirus pandemic turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Wyatt, giving him an additional year of eligibility. He seized this opportunity to improve his skills and mature as a football player by returning to Georgia for a fifth season.

The 2021 season emerged as a significant chapter in Wyatt’s football career with a significant recognition. He was named first-team All-Southeastern Conference by the league’s coaches and was honored as a second-team All-American by the Associated Press.

His successful run continued into 2022, when he officially declared himself for the much-anticipated 2022 NFL draft on January 15th. The Green Bay Packers, acknowledging his talent, swooped in and made him their golden pick as the 28th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Following his remarkable entry into the NFL, Wyatt signed his rookie contract with the Green Bay Packers on May 6, 2022, marking a significant milestone in his football career.
