Connor Williams's Biography

Connor Williams, named to the All-Rookie Team in 2018 by the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA), is a budding professional football star in the National Football League (NFL).

Born in Coppell, Texas on May 12, 1997, Williams attended Coppell High School. He was rated as a three-star recruit, and after high school, he committed to the University of Texas, turning down offers from other notable universities such as Stanford, Oklahoma, and Georgia.

At the University of Texas, Williams played college football for three years. Here, his talent and determination as an offensive tackle was recognized and appreciated. Maintaining consistent performances from the start, he was named as a Freshman All-American by USA Today. In his sophomore year, he earned the accolade of First Team All-American by multiple outlets including Associated Press, Fox Sports, and ESPN. His career in Texas was ended prematurely by a knee injury during his junior year. Despite the injury, Williams decided to forego his senior year and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys selected Connor Williams in the second round as the 50th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The decision marked a point of fulfillment for Williams who grew up in the Dallas area as a Cowboys fan. He signed a four-year contract valued at $5.2 million, including a signing bonus of approximately $1.8 million.

During his rookie season, Williams was an immediate starter, playing as the left guard for the first eight games. Despite a knee injury which necessitated a surgery and kept him sidelined for a couple of games, Williams resumed his starting role towards the end of the season. He played a total of 13 games, and his performances earned him a place in the PFWA’s All-Rookie team.

In the 2019 season, Williams continued to play at the same position. Dislocating his knee during a game against the New York Giants, he was placed on injured reserve but was activated before the end of the season. He displayed impressive performance throughout the season.

In 2020, Williams solidified his position within the Cowboys organization. Although they suffered several injuries, including to both their starting tackles, Williams’ solid performance as guard helped stabilize the line.

Off the field, Williams uses his platform as an NFL player to raise awareness about bullying. Having experienced bullying first hand during his childhood due to his speech impediment, Williams often talks about his experiences to inspire and motivate others who may face similar situations. He has also actively involved himself in charity works including teaming up with “Best Buddies”, an organization devoted to promoting understanding and acceptance of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
