Luca Vildoza's Biography

Luca Vildoza is a professional basketball player hailing from Argentina, born on August 11, 1995. With a height of 1.91 m (6 ft 3 in), he skillfully plays both as a point guard and shooting guard. His ongoing career is significant for the Greek Basket League team Olympiacos as well as EuroLeague. In addition, he has also made commendable contributions to the Argentine national team playing in various international competitions.

Vildoza found the start of his career in the 2011-2012 season playing for the Argentine 1st division (LNB) club Quilmes. He showed dedicated performance in the subsequent Argentine 2nd Division during the TNA 2012-2013 season with the same team. He continued his association with Quilmes for the next three seasons, playing in the top-tier level Argentine League.

In 2016, Vildoza took a leap by signing a four-year contract with Liga ACB club Baskonia. This didn’t end his journey with Quilmes, as Baskonia loaned him back for the 2016-2017 season, where he averaged 16.9 points and 3.9 assists per game. His return to Baskonia marked the start of the 2017-2018 season when he also made a debut in EuroLeague. Playing in 24 EuroLeague games, he averaged 4.5 points, 2 assists, and 1.3 rebounds per game. His Liga ACB appearances amounted to 25 games, where he averaged 5.9 points, achieving a shooting score of 50% for the field goal and 40.4% for the three-point line. Despite Baskonia making it to the ACB Playoffs Finals, they lost the final 3-1 to Real Madrid.

In the 2018-2019 season, Vildoza saw an increased role in the team which also reflected in his statistics, averaging 9.1 points and 3.8 assists over 34 EuroLeague games. In March 2019, he extended his stay with Baskonia until the end of the 2023-2024 season, reflecting in his participation in 32 games and an average of 9.3 points per game. Although Baskonia lost 2-0 to Zaragoza in the ACB Quarterfinals.

Amid the dynamic evolution of his career, May 6, 2021 saw Vildoza signing with the New York Knicks. However, after playing two 2021 NBA Summer League games, he was waived on October 3. The following month saw him undergoing surgery on his right foot. Subsequently, on April 6, 2022, he signed a reported two-year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. This marked the beginning of his NBA journey debuting against the Chicago Bulls in a first-round playoff series.

Vildoza’s entry was made in the fourth quarter, managing a three-point shot, one rebound, two assists, and two steals aiding in the Bucks win by 111-81. However, he was waived by the Bucks in July, further to re-signed him with an Exhibit 10 contract.

October 14, 2022, saw Vildoza with Crvena zvezda mts of the Adriatic League and the EuroLeague. His performance was acknowledged with the ABA League Player of the Month Award. In 29 EuroLeague games (24 starts), he averaged 12.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.6 turnovers, playing around 24 minutes per contest.

Achieving another milestone, on June 26, 2023, Vildoza signed a three-year contract with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos. He amicably exited Panathinaikos, having won both the domestic championship and the EuroLeague title. Following, on July 2, 2024, he joined Greek Basket League runner-ups and EuroLeague bronze medalists Olympiacos signing a two-year deal.

Vildoza also found a mark for himself at international level competitions like the 2012 FIBA Under-17 World Cup on Argentina’s junior national team. He also played on Argentina’s senior team at the 2014 ODESUR Games, the 2015 Pan American Games, the 2016 South American Championship, and the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup.

Vildoza was a part of the gold-winning team at the 2019 Pan American in Lima. He also clinched the silver medal for Argentina, which emerged as runners-up to Spain at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
