Andre Jackson Jr.

Andre Terrell Jackson Jr., affectionately known as Andre Jackson, is an American professional basketball player, currently playing for the Milwaukee Bucks within the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born in the small town of Amsterdam, New York, on November 13, 2001, Andre’s life significantly revolved around basketball. From his young age, he demonstrated the skills and potential to become an outstanding NBA player.

During his formative years, Andre was educated at The Albany Academy, located in the capital of the Empire State. Here, he began to make a name for himself as a determined, talented, and promising basketball player. His burgeoning prowess in the sport earned him the privilege of representing the United States select team at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament, held in 2018. It turned out to be a significant milestone in his career, bringing Andre to the national basketball forefront.

In his senior season, Andre cemented his reputation as a top performer. He averaged a whopping 18.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and three steals per game. His incredible talent did not go unnoticed. He was named the Class A Player of the Year by the New York Sports Writers Association, marking him as an athlete to look out for in his age group.

His high school achievements were not unnoticed, attracting offers from top-ranking colleges across the country, including Iowa, Maryland, UCLA, and Syracuse. Despite his numerous options, Andre was more than thrilled to commit to playing for the UConn Huskies, a high-caliber collegiate basketball team hailed for both its sportsmanship and competitive edge.

Andre’s freshman season at UConn saw significant contributions to the team, with an average of 2.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. However, the season wasn’t without trials as he missed seven games due to a broken left wrist. Undeterred, he returned to start all but one of the Huskies’ games as a sophomore, significantly upping his game performance to average 6.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Entering his junior season, Andre’s leadership skills led to his elevation as the team captain. Unfortunately, three games into the season, Andre sustained a fracture to his right pinky finger, sidelining him for a time and testing his resilience. Unfazed by the setback, he returned to the scene to lead his team to victory in the 2023 national championship game, where he made a decisive contribution of three points, six assists, three rebounds, and two steals.

The icing on the cake in Andre’s sterling career was his selection as the 36th overall pick during the 2023 NBA draft. Initially chosen by the Orlando Magic, he was traded on the same night to the Milwaukee Bucks. His journey represents the fulfillment of a dream and a testament to Andre’s indomitable spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence.

On a personal note, Andre is a firm believer in Christianity, attributing a great deal of his success to his faith. His passion for the sport is not a surprising factor considering his lineage. Just like Andre, both his parents, Tricia Altieri and Andre Jackson Sr., played college basketball at Fulton–Montgomery Community College. His basketball genes and Christian values continue to guide him on his way to becoming an NBA legend.
