Born November 25, 2002, Joshua Robert Tyler Minott has emerged as a beacon in the professional sporting world. As a Jamaican-American professional basketball player, he represents the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Minnesota Timberwolves as a pivotal component of their team. Minott’s breakthrough performance came on January 23, 2022, when he recorded a career-high of 18 points and nine rebounds, contributing significantly to an 83–81 win over Tulsa. Throughout his freshers at Memphis, he showcased incredible talent, averaging 6.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in a mere 14.6 minutes per game. This level of commitment and skill got Minott named to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) All-Freshman Team, and he simultaneously earned the AAC Freshman of the Week title three times over.

Revving up to breach the threshold of professional basketball, Minott declared for the 2022 NBA draft on March 24, 2022, keeping open the option of retaining his college eligibility. However, he decided to remain in the draft, willingly forfeiting his remaining college eligibility.

The 2022 NBA draft was Minott’s moment of glory as he was picked 45th by the Charlotte Hornets. Following this, he was subsequently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, accompanied by a 2023 second-round draft pick from the New York Knicks, in a deal that sent Bryce McGowens, the 40th pick, the opposite way. With this transition, Minott officially became a part of the Timberwolves’ 2022 NBA Summer League roster.

His professional debut in the NBA Summer League washed away any remaining doubts about his expertise on the court. Minott scored 22 points and secured ten rebounds, helping his team win with an 85–78 score against the Denver Nuggets. Following this breakthrough performance, Minott confirmed his commitment to the Timberwolves on July 17, 2022, by signing a four-year, $6.8M deal.

In addition to his NBA career, Minott proudly represents his Jamaican heritage on the international stage. Despite his birth in Florida, he has chosen to play for the Jamaican national team.
