Izaiah’s journey in the basketball realm is quite remarkable, with a successful stint in both high school and college leading up to his professional career.

In his formative years, Brockington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he also attended high school. He attended Archbishop Ryan High School, taking to the court for his institution. His talent was evident even from his sophomore year when he entered as a part of the starting lineup. During his senior season, Brockington emerged as a team leader, averaging 18.6 points per game and leading his team to their first Class 6A semifinals appearance. Brockington marked his high school career with a significant achievement, scooping up 1,242 career points to become the third 1,000-point scorer in the program’s history.

Brockington’s college basketball journey carried a mix of excitement and surprise. In August 2016, he initially committed to playing for the New Jersey Institute of Technology but later chose to prep at Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, Connecticut. His plans took a final turn in August 2017, when Brockington joined St. Bonaventure.

As a freshman at St. Bonaventure, he had average stats, however, his move to Penn State for his sophomore season changed his career trajectory. Due to NCAA transfer rules, he initially sat out for a season before taking on the pivotal role of a sixth man while averaging 8.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. By his junior year, he had become a regular starter, significantly improving his stats with an average of 12.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.

Onto his senior season, Brockington made another crucial move –this time to Iowa State. Here, he peaked his college performance by entering the 2021 NBA draft before withdrawing his name. Some notable career highlights during his time at Iowa State include scoring 30 points in a win against Xavier in November 2021 and a career-high score of 35 points in a triumphant encounter against West Virginia in February 2022. For his final season, he had an average of 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, earning him a spot on the First Team All-Big 12 and the title of Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Despite having an additional year of eligibility, Brockington chose to declare for the 2022 NBA draft on March 28, 2022.

Unfortunately, Brockington went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft. However, he signed a two-way contract with the New Orleans Pelicans and the Birmingham Squadron on September 15, 2022, but was waived after just nine days. On March 14, 2023, the Birmingham Squadron announced Brockington’s reacquisition. A few signings and waivers followed with both the New Orleans Pelicans and the Birmingham Squadron. On March 3, 2024, the Pelicans signed him for a 10-day contract, but he soon returned to Birmingham. His last signing was with the Pelicans on September 24, 2024, but yet again, he was waived shortly after and rejoined the Squadron.
