Donovan Mitchell Bio
Donovan Mitchell is an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals and was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He was then traded to Utah on draft night, where he won NBA Rookie of The Year honors in 2018.
Mitchell grew up in Elmsford, New York and attended Brewster Academy before enrolling at Louisville for his freshman year. As a Cardinal, he was named ACC Freshman of The Year following an impressive first season which saw him averaging 15.6 points per game as well as being one of only five freshmen to be invited to participate in both USA Junior National Team training camps that summer. During his sophomore season, Mitchell led Louisville to its second Elite 8 appearance in three years while also leading them to a 24-8 record, earning All-ACC Second Team honors along the way.
At 6’3″, 210 lbs., Mitchell is considered undersized for an NBA shooting guard but makes up for it with his athleticism and defensive prowess; His wingspan stretches out to nearly seven feet long despite standing at 6’3″ tall making him an ideal perimeter defender capable of defending multiple positions effectively due to his length and agility. His offensive abilities have also developed since joining Utah highlighted by career highs this past season with 24 points per game on 43% shooting from beyond thee arc as well as 49% from two point range; This helped earn him All-Star accolades this past season making Donovan just one of nine players under age 23 who were chosen and only behind LeBron James among guards in total minutes played during 2019-2020 regular season games.
Off court, Donovan has been active within his local community through donating supplies such as masks and doTERRA oils during COVID19 relief efforts back home near New York City; Additionally he’s shown a passion towards giving back through expanding youth educational initiatives via Check Your Maths program which donates computers so students can learn coding across various cities including Salt Lake City., Los Angeles & Chicago . Back on court recently ,he agreed upon a five year $195 million dollar extension contract with Utah showing their commitment towards having each other moving forward into what should be seen as promising times ahead .
In conclusion , Donovan’s work ethic & dedication are paying off annually between developmentally & financially speaking ;Whether it’s representing himself positively off court or showcasing why he deserves contracted recognition when it comes down too producing performance wise .. There’s no doubt ‘Spida ‘is here too stay!
